My dd has come back for her first half term very excited, she seems to be having a ball! dd is full of stories all of which start with "Its so amazing" and "Guess what" So phew what a relief. Any way I wonder if anyone could tell me what washing powder CH use? My dd eczema has flared up she has new areas and generally it looks angry. I am not sure there is anything CH can do if their powder is making her eczema react, although I would of thought there are other children with eczema? Of course it could be something else she is having a reaction too.

It may be the washing powder, but it may just be the stress, however much she is enjoying herself.

My daughter's eczema always flared up around the time of her exams.

The school laundry use non-bio for all washes for this very reason as we have a lot of children with eczema in the school. As Englishangel says, and as I'm sure you know, it can flare up for lots of different reasons, including a change in the weather and the stress of starting a new school. It may well be the change in washing powder too, although we usually find that this soon settles down as their skin adapts to the change in powder. I'm sure you have made her Matron aware of her condition and she hopefully is keeping an eye on it, the little ones often need nagging (sorry, I mean reminding!) to cream themselves frequently.

Hi English Angel, my dd eczema is so much better, all her clothes that have come home have now been washed in non bio persil which is what we have always used. It would be good to know what brand CH use? I think we may need Barnes mum again

i wonder if it is the hardness of the water. The water at CH is notorious for that...

yes horsham area has really hard water - tell her to get some oatmeal - put it in a muslin bag and use like a teabag under the running tap in to a bath - works wonders.

I always get really itchy after a shower in hard water (but no eczema luckily)

My son has come back with eczema on his shins - he blames the itchy socks! He does, however, often suffer this time of year so I couldn't say if it is the washing powder or anything like that. I have bought him some cream to apply before he puts his socks on so hopefully that will help.

We provide those in our house, who suffer with exzema, with cotton yellow socks rather than the wool ones. I'm sure if you have word with your son's matron she will do the same for him. The wool ones do tend to irritate those with sensitive skin.

Oh that we could have had an alternative to winter woolly vests.

I was at the dentist yesterday, thinking how different dentists are today from the the dentist of my childhood, a Mr McInnes whose name I can still remember. And I thought, off course you can also always remember your fist teacher, but I couldn't.
