I'm so sorry to hear your dd was ill, this was my biggest fear with ds as he's been known to come down with bugs before important dates. I'm really trying not to worry and am focusing on the positive things that will happen if he DOESN'T get in, like not having to remortgage the house, and being able to enjoy his company, and whatever happens, he had a wonderful time.

You and me both, pinkhebe! She'll be at home, blah blah blah ... but in the back of my mind i've bought the CH hoodie, got the tuck list sorted and mentally ordered the name tapes!

The papers have been emailed to the school, so she'll be able to do them as soon as it is convenient.

Hey! Welcome to my world! Feeling of relief mixed with impending ... well ... conclusion! Fingers crossed.

You have my sympathy - it is a nerve racking time. We did not have to wait as long last year as the residential assessments were postponed (at the last minute) until half term because of snow! In the end I just left it to fate and hoped for the best and for us it was good news. That said CH is probably not the right school for every child and I do believe the CH selection process does try to identify pupils who will really fit in and fully benefit from their time at the school.

chdad - I fully agree - I actually get a lot of comfort from the fact that they take so long in reaching a decision and informing you ... it's clearly not a "snap decision process" with regards all of the children. If my daughter is not given a place at least I know a more deserving child has got in. What will be will be.

You are correct, the selection is very thorough. My son sat the entrance exam for another local school as well. Statistically I am sure he had a much better chance of getting in to the other school. However I was very surprised when he failed that exam and got into CH! My point being that CH carried out a really thorough test of his potential (rather than a quick exam) and also, I'm sure, checked whether he had the correct personality for the school.

Thanks, CHDad. It's for the very reason you mention that I hope my daughter will be successful in this process - I want the next seven years for her to be fun and enjoyable - facing challenges, making friends and all that stuff. There's more to a child's education than just the academic side of things!

As you can tell a sense of humour is one of the things nurtured at CH.

I have been reading this thread avidly as dd has also just done the residential assessment for this September entry.
Trying very hard too distract our minds during the wait, but not finding it easy!

Very glad that you were able to have the assessments sent to your school - the school does seem to have a strong ethos on fairness.

Dd enjoyed the residential - and the controlled busyness of it, and I found chapel at the end very moving.

I was sad to have missed the chapel bit.

I'm sorry, but I have another question.

Does anyone know the actual date of new entrants day? I know it is by no means certain that we will be needing to attend, but I have to say whether my daughter can go on a school trip, it's in May...
