I thought that any new parents who haven't got round to getting a calculator yet might like to know that Morrisons have the one the school specifies on special offer for £5 in their 'Back to School' stationery section at the moment. I'm not sure, but I think that's cheaper than the tuck shop sells it for - it's certainly cheaper than Smiths (where I bought one last week
).

Don't know which ch suggest but if it is FX83 then instead get the FX85 which is identical except dual power battery + solar instead of just battery and also now about £6 in sainsbury's. It has exactly the same functional capability and looks the same apart form the solar panel

CH taught us how to use and supplied log tables. I found a slide rule essential - and occasionally still use it.

Ar !! The book of log tables,,,,, A blue covered book, if memory serves.
I never did master the wonders of a slide rule. All seemed pretty pointless to me - A bit like learning Latin and Greek.
