Just wondering whether my non-existent psychic powers may be of any help in influencing the panel...

Oh, this is really not a good day for the Post Office to be so short staffed that they've given my round to a new person to do once she's finished her other new out in the sticks round.... :(

Please will someone just put me out of my misery!

After a long wait, we received our reply. Unfortunately our son did not make it. They have offered him a place on a waiting list which we will accept.

I just wish I could give him an explanation as to why. There's a little part of me that thinks it's to do with the need for financial support.

Hope your news is much better

Thank you fra828. Still nothing. The lovely woman from the sorting office promised me that she would deliver my post on the way home if there wasn't time to do the round, but that was an hour ago, so I suspect there was nothing for her to deliver. :(

Such a waste of a day.

@ marhop18 I am so very sorry. The not knowing quite why is awful. At least he's on the waiting list, so there is still hope. When my son got rejected 10 years ago, he definitely wasn't offered a waiting list, so your boy must have been very close. Fingers crossed it still works out for you.

Hi - our mail arrived late this afternoon (new postie), and my lad too didn't get in but is 'on the reserve list'. It's difficult of course to know just how many are on this reserve list, and thus whether there's much chance of getting a shot if someone drops out. We too were looking for a fully assisted place and I'm guessing there is huge pressure on those few that are offered - plus of course people are very unlikely to decline a full bursary place, so the likelihood of making it off the reserve list seems slim to none....

But what an experience for him - he enjoyed the process, loved the school, and has now had his first life-lesson in 'picking yourself up after disappointment'.
