Happi Birfdae - Dirty Old Jack ?

Post by J.R. »

I see he's 80 today !

Hmmmmm.

He did pop up on here in 2009, so maybe there's life in the old dog, yet !

No, really, old dog just about sums me up. Thanks for noticing that I exist and have a birthday.

I'll be spending it lying low in my executive bedsitter. For a long time I thought I'd see out my life in Arlington House, but no, I climbed up a rung three years ago and now have my own sink, kettle and hotplate which between them are more than enough to get me into trouble.

The idea of still being alive at 90 horrifies me. The novelty value of the kettle will have worn off long before then.

Jack?

I wished you a happy birthday a couple of years ago, but no acknowledgement and JR suggested that you didn't really exist!

But I'm sure you do. Living in luxury! You see? I have faith.

I thought it was a very constructive, helpful and Rogersian counselling intervention myself, NEILL!

I've been trying to set my passions free ever since Friday!

Be careful, Angela. Freeing depression into the anger that it was before you suppressed it can have alarming consequences.

That's it. Now my counsellor is freeing passion into the depression that was the result of suppressed anger! An interesting mental state, n'est-ce pas?

I should have posted this into the Mental Health thread. In what state will I be after my next Friday session?

It's all NEILL's fault, leading us astray.

As a long-term victim of endogenous depression I can vouch for the efficacy of releasing that anger. It can leave you feeling bewildered and lost at first ( as well as very tearful - keep loads of tissues handy!), but it helps enormously. What finally saved my sanity was freeing myself from the destructive grip certain others had held me in, but that I'd not been able to acknowledge or face up to. Good luck Angela, I'm thinking of you.

BACK TO TOPIC.
Happy birthday for yesterday Jack, my kettle is my best friend!

To serious matters ---

I should explain my attitude to Mental Health Matters ---
I was a Director of an NHS Trust for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities.
I was a Mental Health Act Manager, -----chairing Appeals for Release.
I was Vice Chairman of Dorset Mind.

My remark was never intended to make fun of Depression, or any other illness.

I just thought that the "Quote" was subject to mis-interpretation !

Of course you weren't making fun, NEILL! Never thought you were, at all. :)

Despite the fact that I left the counselling session clutching a wad of damp Kleenex, I thought the passion-releasing aims sounded rather exciting...

Here he was - a year ago! How are you, Jack? Happy Birthday!

Sink, kettle, hotplate and.... a computer?
