Strikes !

Post by NEILL THE NOTORIOUS »

In view of the fact that I am a Life Member of a Trade Union ----- I intend to spend the entire day of the forthcoming Strike ------- in bed !!

This is, of course ----"Solidarity"

I once remember an old, and experienced Shop-steward, remarking to me "If you go on strike -- remember -- you have only one bullet in the gun --- and no chance to re-load !"

I have always respected his wisdom -- I wish there was more of it about !

Could be another 'Winter of Discontent'

As I am also a Union life-member, I shall be following matters closely.

I feel smug re: the tube strikes as I can get the boat to work :)
I'm also a union member, but my place of work isn't going on strike (it would be a bit...ironic)

This week's strikes could be interesting - with one of the largest Public Sector unions not going on strike. Certainly the feeling within parts of the Public Sector is one of extreme anger at HMG's high handed approach to negotiations which are still ( or were) ongoing.

From my BIL's (former teacher) Facebook status

Remember when teachers, nurses, doctors and lollipop ladies crashed the stock market, wiped out banks, took billions in bonuses and paid no tax? No, me neither. Please copy and paste to your status for 24 hours to show your support for the strikes against the governments latest attack on pensions.

... and whilst on the subject of this Governemnt, does anyone else find it strange that a Tory constituency chairman is found dead in a portaloo at the Glastonbury Festival ??

Me-thinks another 'conspiracy-theory' in the offing. Shades of David Kelly, perhaps ?? MI5, MI6, KGB ??

Senility strikes (Sorry about the pun)
I have now discovered that next Thursday, I shall be visiting the Somme

"Strikes" there, had an entirely different meaning !!

56 years old, pretending he is young, sitting on the toilet = heart attack to me.

I don't think there were a lot of deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at Glasto but you have the right idea.

Both my in-laws dies on the loo in their mid 50s

It is common - something about pushing putting extra pressure on the heart and it failing!
