Parents evening

Post by pinkhebe »

Can someone tell me whether the pupils are with you during parents evening, and is there anywhere we can 'dump' younger siblings during the evening?

Yes they are with you, important that they have input too. Also you won't have a clue who to speak to unless they tell you! Nowhere to dump younger ones, they would have to tag along. But always a very busy few hours. Why didn't you post this on the official parents site?

Ah, first parents evening! Slightly chaotic so if I were you decide if there are any teachers you particularly want to see and instruct DS. He will no doubt steer you towards those he wants you to see.

I'd recommend thinking about what you want to find out before you go. I came away realising I hadn't asked half the things I wanted to because it was quite rushed. I was cooler at the Third Form evening!!

When did parents'evenings start? In my time they were largely ignored. If a burning issue arose they would go to the housemaster.

To be honest, my general impression in the 50's was that it was school policy to keep parents well away, at arms length !
