Initial Assessment

Post by Natasha2978 »

Hi, I'm new to this forum. My ds took the initial assessment this Saturday just gone but I cant seem to find any info regarding when the results will be through. Another parent told me that it has been done at the beginning of half term for the first time this year and that they weren't sure if the results would take longer to come through because of this! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks! :)

The marking and collation of information is taking place over half-term.
The panel will meet on Fri 4th Nov in the afternoon.
We hope to start sending letters at the beginning of the week commencing 7th Nov.
If you have not received a letter by Fri 11th please telephone the Admissions Office.
Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks HowardH for your helpful reply! We will be eagerly awaiting the postman from the 7th on :)

Thanks Pinkhebe! We have our fingers crossed for him. I don't know what's worse, the nerves before the test or the waiting now!

Gosh, I wish I hadn't read that now, as I was thinking the results wouldn't be out till December! Now my tummy has gone all nervous thinking only two weeks before we know!
What did other people's kids think of the exam?
I had decided before my DS came out that if he said it was easy it was thumbs down, and guess what? He came out grinning and saying it was easy. Oh dear.

Hi Lippizaner

I feel for you haveing been through this process earlier this year. The waiting is so hard!

My DD also came out saying she thought the tests were easy, and I too thought "oh dear" but she passed and started at CH this September.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you and your DS

Thank you, Fairy, for those encouraging words. Do you by any chance have a magic wand you could wave? Because we live abroad and I fear that however well DS does, he isn't going to get a place.

Hi

Good luck to your son! It's not much longer now I guess. Did you happen to notice the huge amount of toilet breaks the children were having? Lots of nervous ones,my son included. I felt a bit sorry for the teachers watching them trudge in and out constantly :)

Good luck to everyone awaiting results .... I can clearly remember how nerve wracking it is. I'll be back in the same position (hopefully) with DD number two next year!

there was some one who let the child in with a blackberry and the parent phoned during the exam!!!!
I attended ch when i was younger and i was debating weather to let my son sit the assements , but there is only one grammer where i live and all the private schools feed there pupils into it :( so im hoping ch will be a possiblity.
I can say i had many ups and downs but ch is a way of life and the experiences and friendships it allows you to experience is somthing so rare good luck to every one...
i was worried when he said he found it easy ... what level is everyones child at .. i know that they look into the whole aspect of the child this waiting is just killing me xx

It wasn't my son with the blackberry, he only takes his phone out when he's walking to school on his own :)

My son said he found the maths paper easy and the english one quite hard which is strange because english is usually his stronger point. He also became ill during the test but did manage to finish it. I think I mistook his stomach ache on the way to the test as nerves, poor thing. Still he did his best and I think he was pleased with himself for carrying on.

I was looking at the other private school casually but wasn't sure on the level of bursurial support they offer. I wouldn't like to send my son somewhere other than ch if 95% of the kids there were from much wealthier backgrounds than us! I guess all boarding schools will have their ups and downs like you said, do you think the issues you had would have occurred at a day school, if you don't mind me asking?!

Fingers crossed for everyone :)
