Shape-Shifting Old Blues?
Once every few centuries I find myself wondering about those ex-pupils who were famous for being shortarses. Did they eventually grow into giants after leaving school? Or have they had to struggle on through life, constantly in danger of being stepped on and squished?
I think particularly of 70s products like Tim Vincent, James Preston and Simon Long-Price. Anyone know whether they suddenly shot up after escaping the growth-stunting experience that was CH in the 70s? (I mean, I shot outwards enormously, so they could just as easily have shot upwards, couldn't they?)

Recent photo of Richard Ruck
There's no call to get yourself all impatient and flustered, Master Bingo. Here it is, a mere six months after you demanded it:Bingo the Poop-Eating Dog wrote:Now where's that recent photo of Richard Ruck?

Doesn't this prove once and for all that Richard Ruck is ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of you, does everything you command him, and exists solely to fulfil your wishes, eh?

I'm still not quite persuaded.
Have a close look at this photo of Wurzel Tony Baylis taken some years ago. Shave off the moustache, add on a few years......(Mind you, it's worth remembering that RR was and still is a musician from Somerset, so maybe they're one and the same.)

And then there were Adge Cutler and Reg Quantrill.

Was the alleged photo of RR taken at a cider festival in Somerset, by any chance?

10/10 for not mentioning Tommy Banner (the Scottish Wurzel).
Back in the '60s my dad, who was a mechanic, used to supplement his income by doing a bit of work for Adge Cutler's brother, who either owned or worked at a garage (can't remember which).
So there is a vague connection, but not THAT close!

The Old Gumbie Cat
I have a Gumbie Cat in mind, her name is Jennyanydots;
Her coat is of the tabby kind, with tiger stripes and leopard spots.
All day she sits upon the stair or on the steps or on the mat:
She sits and sits and sits and sits - and that's what makes a Gumbie Cat!
TS Eliot, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats
(Slightly different spelling and nothing to do with Monty Python, but still rather lovely all the same. A bit of culture for a Saturday pm.)
