Following the upgrade to the latest php version, we lost a number of mods to the board - for various reasons it's taken some time to re-add some of the functionality, but here's what I've added so far:-

NEW  Memberlist manually modified to show 300 records per page, to make searching for username easier.
(19/01/07)

 Anti-spambot bespoke question - Facility to ask questions unique to CH, that anyone with basic CH knowledge can answer. If the answer is wrong, registration is impossible.
(11/01/07)

 Birthdays mod added - this is an enhanced version, which shows Birthdays in next 7 days too! I've migrated previously-entered birthdays into the new database
(10/01/07)

 Only Logged-in users can view user profiles - prevents guest users from viewing user profiles until they've logged in.
(10/01/07)

 Real Name - allows entering of Real Name, and includes it in the Memberlist too. I've migrated previously-entered real names into the new database
(10/01/07)

 Online/Offline icon - it's not the same as before, but it adds an illuminated icon in the footer of each topic, with either Online or Offline.
(10/01/07)

 Easy BotStopper - prevents bots from registering (hopefully!)
(10/01/07)

 RSS feeds - individual RSS icons and feeds for each public section.

I like the online/offline logo. As for botstoppers, imho all bots need to be stopped. I'm not sure, however, that I like the addition of the real name everywhere.

If having Real Name logged can prevent the rubbish that has been posted recently, then I am all for it - doesn't worry me, although I admit that it does detract from the poetry of some pseudonyms ( e.g. Little Prune and our resident Angel !)

but if people don`t put their real name in the profile it won`t be shown - look at memberlist which now has lots of "anons" - several whose user name is their real name anyway!! Seems a bit pointless to have a different user name though........

Last night I put in my real name, Katharine Dobson, this morning I find it is Katharine Dobson (Hills)  I know that is in my signature but why was it changed?

Hmmmm ..... is "bot" short for bottom? If so, with what shall they be stopped?

How about one of those red rubber bungs that they used in the Science Block... preferably with the acid still on it!

Actually, what the Forum needs is a 'Bot Slapper' ... JR?

You must have entered your Real Name whilst I was still making changes to the database. I used an old copy of the database to copy over previous real-names which people had entered - so I can only suggest that the (Hills) must have been on the end of your previous real name you'd entered?

Re. showing Real Name everywhere:-
What I can do is put something in which says "Real Name: See Profile" if it's anything other than Anon?
How's that for a solution?
