Was it physics? Or could it have been history? Anyway I never had anything to do with her (and I never thought, contrary to apparent popular opinion, that she was the most attractive female teacher - no accounting for taste).

Mike Williams had also been a house tutor in Mid.B during my time there. Judith was indeed lovely and much admired.

Smeggy
Taffy
Potato Head
Who are these Adam?
Smeggy - Mr O' Meara

Taffy and Mr Potato Head (both said in a welsh accent) are one and the same, the recently mentined Mr WIlliams, the potato thing was brought up quite late in my time (82-89). Elsewhere on here I've mentioned a time in chapel where as part of a Mid A chapel presentation me and Rick Slater shouted insults at each other across the chapel (it was about bigtry and prejudice) and I was dleighted to be able to shout the word B*stard in chapel while RIck was almost beside himself with glee at being able to shout Potato back referring to our housemaster. Alas no one outside Mid A got the joke and actually I'm still not 100% sure myself!

The only ones I can recall are

Fatty M
Pot (stand in house mistress of 6's)
Wizzo (house mistress of 1's)
Laurie (house mistress of 2's)
Smeggy
Captain Caveman

I'm sure there must have been more though!

That's it! I have been trying to remember his name for ages, Mike Williams and boy are you right about Judith being much admired. I was sat in the Sound room in the Arts Centre one day with Bob F and he gave full vent to his desires.......It was on that day that I realised that I was rather innocent beforehand.

Laurie (house mistress of 2's)
Didn't she take over from Mrs Dean - Laurie had a permanent fag on and I seem to remember orthapaedic lace up shoes. What must she have done in a previous life to get us!! Who was the mad tall thin one from 1's when I was in residence?

P.s. Horsham seemed to have a lot more of the 'glamour boys' than we did, what's all that about?

Gerrie, remember that at Horsham there were more than 800 boys and there were less than 300 of us so they had more of everything!

I've no idea who she took over from but she was there when I started in 1981 and moved to another school in 1985. She seemed really old to me at the time and we all assumed she was past retirement age (I'm sure she must have been!). I remember her as being a bit of a misery, being (or appearing) totally oblivious to what we got up to, being deaf and smelling of fags  I don't remember the shoes. I do remember some of us hanging out of the windows one weekend and watching her "planting" cutlery in the grass outside 2's

I think that must have been the same woman who took over temporarily when Fanny had her brain op. (about 69/70).

She once asked me why I couldn't be quieter, like my mother. Ma had had laryngitis when she came to visit and when I told her she roared with laughter, she too was larger than life.
