sock ties and other miscellaneous queries

Re: sock ties and other miscellaneous queries
I am also looking for plain blue swim suits. You can order the labels on line - I did that and they came in the post in 5 days. You can also order sticky ones for things you can't sew labels on so have ordered some of those too.

you can often pick up the name-tape leaflets in shoe shops too.
The last one I saw had, as one of it`s featured nametapes, the name of the daughter (OB) of a recent CH matron!

Re: sock ties and other miscellaneous queries
cashs labels about £13 for 144, I also used this site for sticky labels, to name shoes/bags/stuff
http://www.easy2name.com/product.htm?pr ... -on-labels
They have plastic protectors to go over the labels for shoes.
I bought 2 of the first item for sock ties, I decided that 33m was overkill (I hope) and 16mm width may have been slightly too wide (quite possibly overthinking the sock ties)
White lace up trainers? I was in sports direct today, all the white trainers have a little bit of colour on, do they have to be all white?
Where else can I buy some?

Re: sock ties and other miscellaneous queries
I'd recommend cotton or other fabric over elastic for the sock ties. I used elastic the first batch I did but they didn't stay properly tied together, or the knots became so tight he couldn't untie them. Cotton definitely easier.

Re: sock ties and other miscellaneous queries
it is actually possible to machine sew the labels in lengthways! We have a double barrel surname and the labels are HUGE!

Re: sock ties and other miscellaneous queries
After years of battling to machine-sew name labels into socks and other small items, I finally came up with this solution; fold the tape in half lengthways, and sew across the short end (so that the tape forms a loop). As long as the House name and number is uppermost and visible, this is perfectly adequate for the laundry/matrons to be able sort items.
For socks, you can even attach the sock tie at the same time as the name tape in one easy step!

Re: sock ties and other miscellaneous queries
Probably far too late saying this, but when my two were at school, not CH, one had red Cash's the other had green nametapes. Both said it made their things far easier to find as they stood out from the rest of the crowd. Does CH give you the freedom to choose the colour?
