I learnt an important life lesson while babysitting at CH once. I was always scared of spiders, but then this one day I was with these two children (normally I don't do children at all) and they were scared of this big spider and I quite happily picked it up and put it outside.

After that it seems a bit silly to be scared of them so I try to remember that occasion and then they're ok.

Dread to think what that says about my mental state...

Sorry! To get back on topic quickly, I would concur with Ruthie-Baby, don't make a fuss in front of the kids or they'll end up with a phobia and be miserable for the rest of their lives.

but I wasn't deliberately not making a fuss, I just discovered I was able to cope with it because I had to I guess. but yes, looking at it logically, it would also have been a bad idea to break down and scream (not that I would)

I agree with you Ruth, showing your phobias infront of the children is a really bad idea, all it does is create another person afraid.

I remember my mother dropping a fried egg on the carpet, scooping it up and eating it gritty bits and all. She had been to a cristmas party.
