Did the Christian Union kids end up as Satanists?

Anyone know what became of the upright, forthright, black-and-white, iron-fisted (and occasionally sanctimonious) persons who were big wheels at the CU? Are they deeply corrupt, drug-addled smack-dealers and gun-runners these days? Did they take to burning down churches at the dead of night? Do they play in Satanic heavy metal bands? Or what?

Got an axe to grind there Bingo?

To which era at CH are you referring? The CU was pretty low key & low membership when I was a pupil. But for the record, all those who were members in my time that I've heard about are doing just fine and haven't gone off the tracks anymore than anyone else could have been expected to (probably less likely to).

As for militantcy in beliefs - the Uni CU's were far, far, far more extreeme in my experience in terms of being ultra upright, forthright, black-and-white, iron-fisted and invariably sanctimonious. Although there were some *normal* types too who didn't get all indignant and stroppy and talk-to-the-hand-Jerry-Springer-stylie when you brought up grey areas.

The CU these days is a little more strident then days of old, although you are right Debbie about uni CU's - they really doid get my back up!

They really got my goat too. But they were (and still are) excellent sport for the more argumentative amongst us!

Gotta love 'em though. After all... I'm one of *them* now. Mwah-ha-ha-ha-haaaa.....

My fiancee was a theology student and we used to wind them up well and truely! Actually, the uni chaplain used to wind them up as well, but that's a different story!

I'm told that Simon Chevill (1970s) became a Baptist minister. Whether he sets his own church on fire, I've no idea.

They'll just sit there getting more and more angry and then probably go off in a huff saying something like 'yeah, well at least Jesus loves ME'
come now jenny, they didn't steal it ALL from Paganism!
they also stole it from the romans, greeks, judaism, islam........
we all know how jesus made his own booze, d'ya reckon he grew his own dope too? i'd wager he did. that long-haired sandal-wearing young hippy.

Indeed. It's a cracking film generally, but Alanis was inspired casting!

Allow this old-'un a word or two.....

I was Chistened into the C of E Faith.

Confirmed at C.H.

Married a girl from a Catholic back-ground. (Now married 34 years, and that has to be some sort of record in this day and age !)

As we have grown older and older, our daughters grown and blessed us with four Grand-Children, we have veered far more to Paganism !

It is well worth studying, respecting the Seasons.

After all, most wars have started as a result of disputes over religion. Just look at what is going on in the world today.

All religions have a BASIC belief which is the SAME.

As the Rev. Pullen, (C.H. Chaplain in the 60's), would have said....

HERE ENDETH THE FIRST LESSON !...........

Jan suggests you check out the Web !

There are probably as many Pagans in this country as PRACTISING C of E members !

Paganism started before the Druid movement.

Interesting subject.

Suggest we get a 'Chat-Room' on here. I have E-Mailed JTaylor to that effect !

And there's only about 3 of us practising c of e members!
