Old Blue February 2008
Congratulations and thanks to John Hopgood on another excellent publication.
I'd also like to thank David "Foureyes" Miller for his fascinating article on First World War Old Blues.
I'm lucky enough to be able to access a copy of Blunden's Undertones of War. I will be rereading it.

I saw a clandestine copy at the weekend, and understood that it had not yet been sent out...........
Wonder how anyone has so far received a copy and if so, why?....

I hope it was wrapped in brown paper and kept under the desk! We were in Islamabad when Midnight's Children was published, which was then unobtainable in Pakistan except at British Council Libraries - that was kept in brown paper and under the desk! (I think I am allowed to say that thirty years later!)kerrensimmonds wrote:I saw a clandestine copy at the weekend, and understood that it had not yet been sent out...........

I love John's equivalent of the "This page is intentionally left blank" wording, saying "The is no mention in this issue of the Unofficial CH Forum............"
In the next sentence - "Most impressively, members have helped mothers with squite to deal with their worries..." - nice one John!

Re: Old Blue February 2008
I'm not sure why mine arrived so early.
My post is normally indifferent to bad and on previous Blue and Old Blue threads I'm the one posting saying mine hasn't come yet!
The vagaries of Royal Mail!

Mine hasn't arrived either, but it has been put on the web today.

Yep, it can be downloaded here:-

I'm also usually one of the last to receive mine - but seem to have been one of the first. Perhaps they're being done in reverse alphabetical this time!

Not so sure about that Julian - mine reached this corner of north west Wales today!jtaylor wrote:I'm also usually one of the last to receive mine - but seem to have been one of the first. Perhaps they're being done in reverse alphabetical this time!
I had not noticed before that the postage paid was in Portsmouth - is that where Ian Allan Printing is? I assume the printers do the mail sort as part of the contract. I trust that CHA has the best contract with the Royal Mail for the posting. I know that my husband went to some trouble to get Presstream where the Ffestiniog Railway Society pay to the gram for the mailing of their magazines.
