Jo - I have just had my sister on the phone in tears of frustration - snow is preventing her collecting Mother - so she will have to stay in an extra night. I told her far better for Mother to stay an extra night or two, than my sister have an accident en route (it is very hilly minor roads to reach the main road). Mother will be staying with my sister until New Year - so she should want her safe!

You know, I thought as I typed that "I hope I'm not tempting fate"....... Sorry, I should have kept my mouth shut

Still, you are right, better to have your sister and mother safe and in one piece (well, one piece each - you know what I mean ), however frustrating it seems right now.

I would rather trust antibiotics myself.

Just about the time that Louise was being sent home from hospital my 78 year old aunt went into hospital with symptoms which sounded almost identical to Louise's. Knowing that there is the world of difference between starting off as a fit and healthy 12-year-old and being a 78 year- old former heavy smoker, who has had chest problems all her life, the prognosis did not seem good, but word went round to various members of the prayer chain, and I am pleased to report that she too seems to be on the mend. When she developed septicaemia and it looked as though nothing further could be done, she and her family insisted that she should be allowed to go home and if necessary die in her own bed. Two days later she is much improved. Neill, I am sure you are right about the power of prayer. She was already having all the antibiotics.

Of course, this always develops into an academic discussion, on the lines of ---- "Because of Prayer -- the doctor prescribed the best treatment " ------ or "Guided the hand of the Surgeon "

My attitude is ------- If anything helps ----- !!

And b*gger, b*gger, b*gger, we're going to the Lord Mayor's Show tomorrow for the first time ever, and I was particularly looking forward to seeing the Band. B*gger!!
I hope you managed to get to the Lord Mayor's show today, Jo. I was thinking about your disappointment this time last year when it was your first visit and the band were cancelled. I've just watched the procession on the tv, the band were brilliant - as usual! And they actually showed quite a lot of the band, much more than in previous years :D

I do hope not, it was very good. Maybe it'll be on iPlayer? The band were 117th, and the tv coverage finished soon after so if you just want to watch the band you could skip to the end almost.

I've just checked on iPlayer, and it's not available yet but it does say 'available soon after', so my guess is that it will be anytime.

I hadn't realised it was the Lord Mayor's Show today. After last year I vowed never to go again, although the weather and the shambolic transport arrangements were not the fault of the Show organisers. I will try and catch it on iPlayer, particularly because my cousin's steam bus was also in the parade. Thanks for the reminder, lonelymom!

Would that be the burgundy colour steam bus? I wondered if it was the same one that you mentioned last year. It was commented on :D

It's available now, I've just been showing the girls. It's at about 1:17 and 48 secs I think. I must say we march far better than some of the adult bands! Very well done guys!!! :D
