Re: Founder's Day Dinner
It wasn't the speech/speeches which caused the delay, it was the caterers who were half an hour late in delivering the first course. But then they were operating from a 'field kitchen' beyond the normal catering facilities which are out of action as the kitchens are being refurbished. Under the circumstances, I thought that the meal was amazing though I was not too keen on too many lentils.

No time to chat ------ Champagne in Big School -- Across to Dining Hall --- Thrown out at 1125pm !
I STILL think that ONE speech was too long --- and would you believe, I have some experience of Public Speaking
If any of my listeners had started to walk out --- I think I might have got the message !

There were three speakers. I would love to know to which one of those Neill took exception - and why? Or perhaps it was to all three?

Only one bored me stiff with his recitation of his recruitment and achievements.
I am, of course wedded to the idea of the perfect Headmaster, being "Oily" Flecker, for whom I, and many others, retain an affectionate memory.
So There !
I shall comment no more.

I for one very much enjoyed the Caledonian Society of Blues's dinner!
