Sailing on Moonshot

Post by DavebytheSea »

So pleased to be welcoming a succession of Old Blues aboard in the last week or so: Cara Loukes to Scilly (her third attempt on Moonshot as bad weather had turned us back on two previous occasions when she was aboard); Christian Collins with Alice (his fiancée ) and then on Monday we have Marcus Comaschi and Oskar Schortz returning for some more sailing in Moonshot. It is good that the offshore sailing for Old Blues, begun with the inauguration of the CHC&SC in 2005, still continues even in the pandemic.

Hopefully, there will be more Old Blues offshore wanting to come sailing this summer although August is now full.

Calm seas and fair winds to you all.

An Old Blue, James Bennett, has organised a small flotilla of OB yachts to sail to the Channel Islands next month. Judith and I were going in little Moonshot with Anna da Silva and Cara Loukes. Both were due to have joined us in Guernsey on the morning of June 10, although we shall sail from Falmouth on the 8th.

Sadly, Cara, has had to drop out but will sail later with us in July/August deo valens. This means that we have a spare berth, and I was wondering if anyone would like to join us?

Weather permitting, the flotilla will visit St Peter Port, Herm, Sark, Gareth, Les Ecrehous, St Helierand back to St Peter Port for a farewell dinner at the yacht club on Saturday June 15.

Judith and I plan then to return to Falmouth via North Brittany, returning to Falmouth on or before June 23. You would be welcome to stay on for that if you wished.

I realise this is a long shot, and probably much too short notice, but I thought I'd give it a go in case anyone is free.

My phone number is 07984 571052. Do give me a ring if you would like to know more.

David
