many computer and playstation games seem quite pointless to me but then I put the word grumpy into old men!

'Er indoors enjoys sudoko so I am sometimes compelled to join in. It's no more pointless than crosswords I reckon.

Cryptic croswords sometimes involves a flash of genius, some clues being more complex than others, on occassions you have to admire the person who devised the clue. Soduko is a logical elimination of possibilities.

I take your point regarding cryptic crosswords. I was thinking more of the general knowledge type that you often see in the tabloid press when I made my comment.

SUDOKU

For anyone who has so far avoided sudoku-stay in that happy state!
It is horribly addictive, and I had to give up today's 'Fiendish' or we would not have had any dinner.

I completely agree, sudoku is right up there with crosswords and jig-saws. I have never completed either a crossword or a jig-saw in my life, I almost die of boredom within seconds.

Just to expand a little and I know I'll make an enemy or two here, but who thinks cricket is the most mind numbingly boring game in the entire universe?

Agreed, but both are equally addictive.

Now cricket, great entertainment (3d chess with active involvement).

I am a greart cricket fan too, not just a fair weather fan.

My first boyfriend took me to Lords (aged 15 in 1969) to see a game involving all-rounders where they all had to bowl and bat against each other.

Does anyone else remember this? (??? sponsored by Watneys or maybe Whitbread)

My next boyfriend took me to a Roses match at Old Trafford (he is a Yorkie) and had his wallet half-inched. (1973)

I got food-poisoning from the cream on the srawberries at an Oval test match in 1981 and threw up quite spectacularly on the Tube at Baron's Court.

These are just the highlights of my cricket watching.
