Re: Old Blues Day

If you`re coming to OB Day, be sure to come to tuckshop and say hello!! I will try and pop in to see you! Sorry to hear your news Maggie. I knew the treatment can make you feel awful BUT there are anti sickness drugs which appear to lessen the symptoms. My sil is going through this at the moment an...

Re: Hertford hygeine, hierarchies and heartache (from CH For

I wouldn't say I hated Hertford - yes there were bits I hated but overall I can't say it was that bad. I did prefer Horsham though and if I could do it all again I would definitely choose Horsham over Hertford. I feel quite lucky to have experienced both schools.

Re: C.H. CAPE PHOTO WANTED

Are we absolutley sure that they were worn at Horsham? The story I heard was that they were late and were not available for the beginning of the winter term when the weather was extremely cold. The girls had no other outer coat/cape/cloak and so were kitted out with the Housey coat to keep them war...

Re: C.H. CAPE PHOTO WANTED

My understanding is that it was dark blue, with a bright yellow lining, and that after a few months it was consigned to oblivion. I was there in 1985/6 and have a VERY vague recollection of these capes but I can't say I even remember actually wearing one. They definitely weren't around for long (li...

I don't remember this going on at Hertford at all...........but I could have just been oblivious. The only thing relationshipwise I remember is one sixth form girl having a relationship with a male teacher.

Re: Old Blues Day 2011

Thanks to DBS I am goingto OBD for the first time in years - in fact I think I have only been once since I left. The year after I left so 1989!!! The last time I actually went back to CH must be at least 12 years ago now.......

Re: The School Rules

I remember the walk to Ashbourne being mainly uphill too. It just surprised me that we were allowed to walk up there on our own but were not allowed out into Hertford alone. I guess Ashbourne has been built on by now :? I remember taking a detour on my way to Ashbourne once with another girl and we ...

I remember one of my friends telling Miss Gravett and one of the other young games teachers that she couldn't go swimming a particular time, because <coughmumblecough>. Their response was "that's no excuse these days". I remember this happening in the 1980's as well! And I can STILL pictu...

Vonny! Vonny? Then it was a Hertford punishment? What did any girl do to get stood up on the dais? Who superintended the punishment? Was it a punishment devised by a Housemistress? Just say it wasn't dear old Pot? No... couldn't have been!   It's so Jane Eyre-ish, I can hardly...
