Remember it?
Firstly the Chapel or Big School bell was rung by someone ( ? ) at about 7:10 am and then rung again with the fire bell at 7:30 am. Now this was a job allocated to Col B as we were nearest Big School where the button for the fire bell was. Actually during my time there I was allocated ...

Re: Was CH Horsham Designed to Be Gay?
After several months of deep thought:
After rereading the comments I do not think that anyone has come up with a good reply. Build a place and throw in 800 teenage boys and you know what is going to happen. Why were there no doors in toilets, why mass showers, why open baths etc etc ?
Well I ...

Re: Sex 'n' Drugs 'n' Rock'n'Roll Part 1: Substance Abuse
I believe that LSD was being used in Col B around 1973. I even bought some myself or so I thought. Turned out it was just an aspirin. Spent the whole sunday afternoon waiting for something to happen.

Re: First Day.....Last Day
In the cases where being "asked to leave" is because of the poor disclipline of a pupil, I believe that the difference between being asked to leave and being expelled is that when you are asked to leave, you are given the chance to go and find a new school, and if you oblige you won't have to have ...

Must be Bob Hailey. Probably one of the few people at CH ( when I was there ) who had time to listen to us and respect us.

Re: Was CH Horsham Designed to Be Gay?
I'll reply for him then !
Just why where there no doors on some of the toilets ? Why no privacy in the bath in the lavends? Why huge showers?
And if you wanted to become a grecian or senior grecian the easiest way of getting there was to be " gay" and get caught! Strange indeed.

Well during my time at CH 69-74 there was certainly a fair amount of drugs being taken. I remember that somebody got expelled from Col B around 72/73.

First Day.....Last Day
I remember it so well 1969. Had somehow passed the exams much to everyones astonishment. Been granted a place due to a " Distinguished Service Award ". Went up to London and got groped by a doctor. And then went home for the summer.
September, arrived at the school. Given my uniform and a pair of ...

Things you brought with you from home.
I remember that the start of a new term was made a little easier by having a few things from home with you. In my case it was:
Tins of beans and sausages.
Sweets.
Biscuits.
Little extra money.
Civilian clothes. God how I hated being looked at at Victoria. It was just great having ordinary clothes ...

Actually even though it was a long time ago the scars are still there. Not that I think about it everyday, however what type of person would I have been IF life at CH had been somewhat easier? Not that I was a model pupil...far from it. I think that the school turned me into a fairly hard person who ...
