Re: Vaughan Holme
I was on here last night checking to see if it was the Wales accident that he had been in as my daughter was too upset to make sense on the phone, she's devestated one of her favourite teachers and she climbs too so knew him well - also how devasted she is for his wife and children :( My heart goes ...

Re: Overseas entrants
I have no idea, is it possible that the rules about oversees students being considered last is a new criteria? Please check out bursaries at other UK boarding schools, something I was unaware of until too late that scholarships and bursaries for independent schools here in the UK are entirely differ...

Re: New Bursaries policy
Absolutely no idea how well my child did to get her pass. Although when she started at CH she was placed in the bottom maths set based on her CH test (she was unwell) and over the following year moved up 2 sets. That is one thing I appreciate they seem much more fluid at moving children around based...

Re: New Bursaries policy
I wonder if they've removed lots of the previous information as it stops people working the system to their best advantage :? The capping of the bursary I can understand from a financial planning point of view but in these times of redundancies and shortage of jobs thats a horrendous situation to be...

Re: Bursary
AnonymousByRequest, thanks for the apology, the whole fees and financing issue is very contentious, it certainly isn't cheap as you net assessed income is very scary if you have a "normal" mortgage level - considerably more than the 12.5% amount! In my opinion I think in times past there h...

Re: Bursary
My understanding is that the £4000 mortgage allowance was just a flat rate that if your mortgage payments were £4000 per annum or less they took them into account regardless of your income. Also the 12.5% is of gross income. Part of the issue is that housing prices have increased since the late 60...

Re: Parental Contribution
erm didn't someone try that and got threatened with court and the whole works???????????????? It is very clear in the "contract" that any fraud of lack of notice etc will mean that they will pursue you for the money! Hence having to get it all counter signed by a solicitor - or so I thought.

Re: Parental Contribution
We didn't remortgage our home (we already had a higher mortgage than we could have currently got  ) but we did increase the term of our mortgage in order to reduce the monthly payments. The affect of that actually brought down our payments to 17% of our gross income, from memory I think only ...

Re: New entrants pack!
Mrs Stamp is fantastic, you couldn't want for a better more motherly, down to earth housemistress. She has loads of experience and seems to have the balance of firmness, fairness and fun right - well so my daughter reports.

Re: Anxious parents
My daughter has had difficulties settling in at CH/coping with boarding etc etc BUT I feel these are all issues we would have had regardless it's just brought them to the forefront at a younger age so being positive they've been dealt with at a younger age. Sometimes I still panick that we did the w...

Re: Waiting list children contacted for Year 8 entry
I wonder if they are seeking to fill places in year 8 and 9 that have become vacant. I know there are several girls that have left over the first 2 years that would now be in year 9. Because they start their GCSE courses in year 9 it's perhaps wiser to get new entrants to start in year 8 to come to ...

Re: financial disclosure and savings
We had/have savings that are kept against our mortgage as a mortgage overpayment. I spoke to them about it and basically I don't think they don't take into account your savings unless it's a serious amount of money!

Re: Sad news
My thoughts are with Matthew's family and friends at this time, what a gap there will be in their lives forever. I few moments lapse in concentration/attention with such devasting consequences. How many near misses have we all had in our lives - different circumstances, different outcome but it's th...
