Re: Murder Mystery at CH - now raising funds for Cool Earth

In case anyone is still interested! We drove the length of India in a tuk tuk and raised thousands of pounds for Cool Earth and the Special Care Baby Unit where Will was treated for so very long at the start of his life. This week he was at the Mansion House giving a speech in front of the Lord Mayo...

Re: School scarf

Ha, ha!
Looks like I will have to get knitting.
The school sent home a letter saying only school scarf (or plain navy or black I think) could be worn but I can't find out where a school scarf can be found.
As he is now a Grecian he'd quite like one as it is something he can keep for the future

Re: School Debates

Debates this term have been:
This house would welcome Syrian migrants.
This house would have a designer baby.

Re: School Debates

Debating is still alive and well. My son is vice president or vice captain of the club this year. He's also represented the school in some debating competitions so still something that is encouraged.
I shall ask him for a list of some of the recent 'motions'.

Re: Residential assessment?

Do we know if any of the IB cohort from this year applied to Oxbridge??? Just because it's not a destination for anyone this year, doesn't automatically mean that they failed to get it. My son says people from previous cohorts have gone on to Oxford or Cambridge. He knows 2 personally. Remember that...

Re: Residential assessment?

Completely agree Ailurophile with a lot of what you say. I work in state education and we can't afford to run the IB. CH was completely upfront with us about the hard work that would be involved and there is certainly a lot of work but Will loves it! The challenge and course content seems to be more...

Re: Residential assessment?

Regarding the comments about the IB - what evidence do you have about universities not liking it? My son is just going into Grecians and is doing the IB. We have done the rounds of a number of universities over the past year and have had no negatives about IB (the opposite I'd say as they have said ...

To answer some queries: You don't need a Kindle to read the book as there are free Kindle apps for most platforms such as for an iPad and a PC. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/kindle-read-books-ebooks-magazines/id302584613?mt=8 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201245960 H...

Murder Mystery at CH - now raising funds for Cool Earth

This is a shameless plug I'm afraid! My son is a Deputy Grecian. At the end of Second Form he wrote a book called Blue Murder which was set at CH. He sold many copies through Parents' Days and Old Blues Day and he is now trying to relaunch it to a new audience in order to raise money for the Cool Ea...

Re: SPECIAL NEEDS AT CH

Back to the original post (although the Marie Stopes stuff is really fascinating)..... My experience of CH and special needs is that they were fantastic with physical disabilities - the SENCO who has sadly now left was phenomenal in his support. But I would agree that it is very much a place for peo...
