Re: Ernest Christopher "Kit" Aitken
Kit Aitken taught me O-level general classics, circa 1971/72, which I believe was his last year or so at CH. I have memories of him arriving at the Classics block on his one-pedal bike and spending the first five minutes of each lesson, sorting out his bicycle clips. That wasn't too easy with his wo...

Re: Photographs that shaped the urban landscape
Some of the pics are by Tony Ray-Jones who was contemporary with me in Col B in the 1950s. He went on to be a renowned social documentary photographer and died tragically young. Fascinating bit of info. You might imagine then that Old Blue Tony Ray-Jones took the photo of the CH band in the Quad, w...

Re: Amelia White (in the Daily Mail) deplores her CH years
A sad and poignant article, that many Old Blues will empathise with. I may have attended CH more than 10 years before Amelia, but I certainly recall experiencing homesickness, anxiety and rejection in my first couple of years at the school. To survive these feelings, you have to dig deep and learn h...

Re: Tony Barrett RIP
Many thanks Jacky for your detailed and informative update on Tony's life after CH.
It was fascinating to read how Tony got on in the world, and, by the sound of it, how he continued to embrace CH's ethos by helping others.
My condolences to you and all the family.
Thanks again.

Re: James Pitcher, BaA, PeA 68-75, RIP
Very sad to read in the latest CHOBA newsletter that James Pitcher, BaA, PeA, 69-75, has died. James was one of my contemporaries in Peele A. I didn't know him that well, but I do recall that he had a fine sense of humour, had a good moral compass and was gifted at rugby. I have no idea what James d...

In time I will post a photo of a Hornby Schools Class model locomotive that has been converted into a "Christ's Hospital". The model loco was given to me as a birthday present.

Tony Barrett RIP
Very sad to read in the latest edition of The Old Blue that Tony Barrett (Ma B, Pe A 1966-73) has passed away. Tony - and his Peele A study mate Robert - were very helpful to me during a particularly difficult period, circa 1972, when I was struggling to get my O-Level re-takes. At the time I was to...

Pink bands!
I have a very hazy memory that during the 1960s, a team of four boys represented CH in a television quiz. I don't believe it was Top of the Form, but possibly a junior version of University Challenge. This was in the days of black and white TV. My abiding memory is that it was revealed - possibly in...

Re: Sausages!
I recall the sausages - I suspect boiled rather than grilled (no browning) and nicknamed 'pregnant mice'. They were actually nice, and I agree, unique. The peeled tinned tomatoes that went with it had an even more distastefull alliterative nickname referring to monkeys... It hadn't occurred to me t...

Re: Sausages!
I enjoyed the sausages in the early 70s. Think they were probably steamed rather than grilled. I did actually like the peeled plum tomatoes and when the rest of the table were rejecting them, someone noticed I was quite happily piling my plate with them; so they started collecting from other tables...
