Re: OLD BLUE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA?
1) AI slop.
2) Steve Hilton is unhinged and an embarrassment to CH. He is a Trump ultra-loyalist, i.e. he has thrown the CH Charge in the bin. He spread dangerous conspiracy theories about Covid, vaccines, etc. etc. A disgrace to CH, and hard to see how the mainly moderate voters of California ...

Re: Freaky in the FT
And again! Today, 12 July.
My letter is titled "Wealth has migrated away from ordinary people". As you can imagine the FT rather goes in to bat for those put-upon, internationally mobile, "high net worth" individuals who are supposedly doing so much for our economy and national life. I contest ...

Probably because you never reply.
I’m surprised a house in Gravesend has much value at all.

Re: Removal of VAT Exemption
VAT seems the fairest approach and long-overdue. I’ve no desire to bankroll the scions of MoD and Diplomatic Corps staff, nor the rash of Chinese (HK or otherwise) that take up a significant chunk of the private sector.

Re: RESEARCH
Some bells are ringing. The post that talks about Drummond (Scott's assistant) having an affair with Nan. As I recall from my mercifully brief stays in the Sicker, Nan was one of the cleaners (described here as an orderly). I remember her as a rather nice, motherly woman who had a smile for every ...

Re: St Matthew’s Day
Actually, St Matthew’s Day was the first time that I came to realise that there was such a thing as a mixer-sized can for fizzy drinks. The Corporation of London was so hard up that it couldn’t run to a normal can and so we all got the teeny-weeny cans.

20p. And a whole lot of standing around.
The really profitable gig was selling programmes for the Lord Mayor’s Show. That was nearly £50 and about 1/2lb of tobacco.

Re: Amelia White (in the Daily Mail) deplores her CH years
I went from Aston Webb’s CH to Aston Webb’s BRNC and they were spookily similar, except that at the time BRNC (Hawke Division at least) was quite well looked after whereas I vividly remember how tired and jury-rigged the boarding houses at Horsham were. Now it’s Dartmouth hitting the news for being ...

I remember her, sad to read the backstory.

Re: Richard Poulton has died
It seems fitting that his passing is recorded in this sub forum on the abuse cases.

Re: Opinions on the recent ‘Final Band Parade’ Videos
As I reflect, I think it’s remarkable that we bestowed so much ceremony on receiving such dreadful food (in the time of Mrs. Keeley, mass-poisoner).
ISTR much worse transgressions than this in my time. We started one band parade under the Big School arches and ‘buzzed’ the band. PeA stopped ...

Re: Opinions on the recent ‘Final Band Parade’ Videos
The less martial pageantry the better IMHO. I can see the value of doing it say, once a week, but it was a chore doing it daily.
