Re: Housey Rap, recent convictions

Crud has been mentioned in other threads on this forum. Mr McCall. A third person (Pattison)(sp?) is mentioned as being good friends with the "enough said" duo. Of course, there was still a lot of homophobia in the 80s/90s that often involved conflating homosexuality and paedophilia. Perha...

Re: What was the attraction?

If you mean Roger Sutcliffe I'm not sure he fits into that category. He had 2 separate stints at the school. Whilst I recall he was single during his first stint, he was married (i think to a member of staff - perhaps a matron...#hazymemory) by his second one. I thought he was there continuously th...

Re: Who Knew What?

He was acquitted but that doesn't mean we are obliged to believe he was innocent. What follows are my personal opinions and speculations, not factual statements about the school but inferences and possibilities. It is very suspicious that he was at CH for a short time, left under mysterious circumst...

Re: House structure

Although, come to think of it, Dobbie became housemaster of Mid A shortly after I would have moved there (it was my first choice). So maybe that was a blessing in disguise...

Re: WHO TO CONTACT REGARDING ABUSE AT CH

I think they should remove the tag line A school like no other I certainly hope that no other schools have such a story of abuse. Quite a few other schools have the slogan "A school like no other". In fact, CH is the 6th school in the search results on google! I wonder how much CH spent o...

Re: House structure

I was in the same year as scrub and marty, when the "choice" system was introduced. I believe Mr McDonald was one of the prime movers behind the change to this new system (1992?). I found it to be very disruptive and upsetting, because my need for stability was very high as a child. I had ...

I started when I was 10 but my birthday was a few days after the term began. I did have several friends whose birthdays were in November or December.

Re: Another charge

Wow! I suspect this will not be the last of them. And I am willing to bet a large sum of money that when we get the details of this case it will be found that the teacher was reported to CH authorities who then did nothing about it. This seems to have happened with every single one of the 7 (?) teac...

Re: Management knowledge of the Husband/Dobbie cases

It's shocking that a former teacher from the era that this all happened thinks it's appropriate to be defensive and accusatory, or anything other than very humble and apologetic.

Thank you very much for attending. Goulding and Liz Oliver don't sound familiar to me though I was there at the time. Except maybe if Oliver was in art/textiles?

Re: CH response when reporting abuse - experience of others?

Should people NOT contact CH at all and just go straight to the police? They are facing potential lawsuits that may cost them millions. Clearly they are not foolish enough to ignore emails that they receive as they'd be quickly caught out, but the information in the emails may enable them to prepare...

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS

Thank you! It's very hard to take seriously the claim that because people made gay jokes, the 90s were so different from now that child abuse was tolerated! Now is not the time for whiny and tenuous apologetics on behalf of the school... A historian should understand how his writing will be interpre...

Being forced to play rugby especially being quite below average weight and height until my GE was one of my most hated activities at CH. Stupid game. Football is much better.

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS

I'm slightly confused by the 5* and % ratings that seem to be a consequence of people liking posts... There are lots of threads and posts with 12.5% or similar ratings which make it seem like a lot of people disapprove...
