Re: A Victims/Survivor event
And what do you do when people give their voices after the line is drawn????
The event that Rob and others are organising is one part of the post-abuse landscape of managing trauma. For some of the OB survivor community, public recognition like this event is a significant step in healing.
What ...

Re: Puke Fight!
What you experienced as a child was horrendous, Duncan. And for others who still live with the after effects in silence, the same applies. You should not have had to suffer these things, you should have been looked after better by the adults. I'm glad Jim Endacott made a difference for you, Duncan ...

Re: Caroline Payne (nee Barrett) 6s 65-70
Sad to see in the latest CHOBA newsletter that Caroline is no longer with us.
Prior to the almost complete desertion of this forum by the Hertford ladies Caroline was one of many prolific posters.
Condolences to any of Caroline's friends and family that might see this post.
RIP

Re: Self Help Group for Survivors of Abuse at CH
I'd like to apologise to anyone affected when I doubted the news re. Dobbie a few years ago.
Unlike most teachers from my CH time (1982-1989) I got on particularly well with Dobbie, and even stayed overnight at his house at least once, and I simply could not believe the accusations. I expressed ...

Re: Self Help Group for Survivors of Abuse at CH
I feel so excited and privileged that we are about to start this. So many of us suffered alone for years. I hope this next group is a healing experience for all.
Are you going to run this again? I am too late for this round, alas, but would definitely be interested next time you set up a ...

Re: Amelia White (in the Daily Mail) deplores her CH years
I've found Amelia's articles to be perceptive and insightful of her experience of boarding, and compassionate to the child she was back then. That she is now able to extend that compassion to other BS survivors is a powerful expression that change and healing is possible. I admire her immensely for ...

Re: Richard Slater
Just posting to keep this thread alive as I remember dear Rick and sometimes he still pops into mind, even after all this time. He will only really die when we do.
That's really lovely to read.
I ended up watching Highway and the Remembrance service from 1989 the other day. Feels like a ...

Re: Richard Slater
Being called in at break to the chapel. Tongues guessing at what it was. That must have been particularly difficult for Dobbie and Poulton to tell us...
And that night someone put candles on the crossing and they burnt all night.
Sad times.
From my understanding, Poulton was abroad.
I ...

Re: Here's a hypothetical
Really glad to read a follow-up to your initial postings, Lenny. I remember reading them and holding my breath because what you wrote came across as so visceral and impassioned - and chimed with some of my thoughts too. But I wasn't in an emotional place to respond then.

Re: Self Help Group for Survivors of Abuse at CH
Thanks Duncan for sharing this information.
I've had a lot of individual therapy (still ongoing), and done my own counsellor training. Both very worthwhile in their different ways. The self-help group last year has been a revelation in communication and sharing with other OBs who experienced ...

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
So would Gloucestershire Police be able to say whether Christ's Hospital or an individual connected had written a letter of support for Ball?

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
I watched both programmes last night.
2) Whether CH was one of the schools who sent a character reference/letter of support?
A brief glimpse of a letter from Cranleigh appears at 53.00 minutes in episode 1. I'm wondering if Gloucestershire Police would disclose this sort of information if ...
