Re: Roger Martin - trial
Maybe I am on my own here but I don't like the tag team baiting Vilified has been subject to at all. He has answered some rigorous questions fully and expressed contrition. It should stop there. People rightly want transparency regarding the awful abuse that has blighted CH and to know why it was a...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
Also note in LhB/A MAb, Pe A/B & ThA with attached masters houses the stairs are towards the centre of the house and all pupils had to pass by an assistant housemasters study to get to bottom of the stairs and then both bottom and top dorm had a bedroom between the stairs and the dorm door - wh...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
As I leave the scene, which I gladly do now, a final reminder as to why I involved myself in this highly unpleasant 'exchange of views' in the first place: 1. To quash vicious scurrilous speculation as to my reasons for leaving CH, which were contemptible and deeply offensive; 2. To put on record m...

Re: Why does Eton make headlines....?
I once saw a splendid Eton-related put-down. It was a BBC Question Time, with Dimblebore as chairman and Rees-Mogg as one of the panelists. The subject of Eton was being discussed and Dimblebore made a very disparaging comment on the school and parents who were well-off sending their children there...

Still in parlance post merger until at least summer '87 Also we used 'Sir' but we were never sure how to address the female members of staff Some quite rightly hated 'Miss?' Also it was Junior/Senior Housemaster House Tutor Junior Housemaster and Tutor seem to be conflated during a certain era

Re: The Fionna Bruce Show.
She seems to crave audience approval.
Now at the level of a school debating society.
After the awfully moderated Leaders's debate with Emily Maitliss, am thinking license fee payers are not getting value for money with these overated celebs.

Re: Roger Martin - trial
For all reading this thread, please bear in mind that the details of the trial are being relayed to you by someone who was not present, but has had information relayed to him by a person who was. I also have had information relayed to me by someone present at the trial, and it does not correlate wi...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
In my sphere which is in the private sector, any requests for references have to be passed on to HR.
References full stop are limited to start and end date and salary.
Anything else i assume is considered too subjective and risky for the company.
Private references are another thing.

Re: Roger Martin - trial
There wouldn't be all the historical cases there are today if there had been a whistleblowing policy and inappropriate behaviour properly dealt with. If you had not been moved on with a good reference by Newsome, would you have had a long career in teaching? Would you still retain your status as a q...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
The statement mentions finding out about what occurred and learning lessons.
Not how it was able to occur.
That requires full disclosure to have confidence it couldn't happen again.

Re: Roger Martin - trial
I'm finding this the most difficult conviction of all to deal with. Up until now, those found guilty have ranged from the not especially likeable to the downright creepy. But lots of former Barnes A boys will remember Roger Martin with very great fondness, both as a good housemaster (broadly speaki...

Do you know which prison that is attached to?
Or are there several?
