Re: Roger Martin - trial

I fully agree with you and the guilty verdict. But I would be interested to know why it’s never OK to question the validity of a guilty verdict, yet it’s always OK to question/ignore a not guilty verdict, and sometimes to insist/imply that they were guilty regardless. My guess it that it's a perver...

Re: Roger Martin - trial

My recollection is that RM was a well-regarded guy, but probably not a great educator as he always seemed to have the bottom sets. <>for company. Would have thought that to teach pupils in lower sets you had to have a certain skill (and patience) for teaching...? I think it's probably harder to tea...

Re: Here's a hypothetical

While the rolling eyes emoji isn't helpful, I think that I agree with Pe A. What did McCall actually do here? A clumsy pass by an older man on another man. McCall could very reasonably claim that yes, he made a pass but <> Have a search on the forum for McCall’s name and see past posts. Yeah, fair ...

Re: Here's a hypothetical

I am afraid Max that there is more to it than a clumsy pass on an older man. Not really from the way that Pete described it. Trying it on with an ex-pupil, over 18 and twice his size, is not much of a crime. What did McCall actually do here? A clumsy pass by an older man on another man. McCall coul...

Re: Here's a hypothetical

Most of the rest of Mr Redshaw's nonsense has been taken apart by other contributors so I won't repeat what they say. He is a bit of a silly old leftie who won't listen to anyone else's arguments and is a s immune to the realities as Mr Corbyn who he appears to admire so much[/b ]. What he doesn't ...

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

And regardless of how long he's locked up, if he ever leaves prison he will be on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. All aspects of life for people on it are highly restricted and monitored. <> Absolutely it will not stop them from offending, but it will make it somewhat harder for them to do so...

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

I would agree that prison is probably not a deterrent. But the longer he's locked up the less damage he can do. It appears that's all we can hope for. We are in furious agreement there. Reports on this forum suggest that he has not shown any sort of remorse. His assault of Husband's victim was the ...

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

Just to let you know that Dobbie's sentence is being reviewed by the Attorney General. If you follow the link below and click on the updated spreadsheet dated 18 June 2019 it's number 341. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/outcome-of-unduly-lenient-sentence-referrals#history Seems...

Re: Michael Porteous

No, genuinely stress related as I recall. Baker made out that Webb was leaving due to stress & we know that wasn’t true so how can we be sure the same convenient lie wasn’t used for Porteous? I wouldnt necessarily rule out the stress related breakdown bit. Its the reasons behind that that were ...

Re: Here's a hypothetical

He should be so 'Lucky !!! Bit off topic, but surely he [Lucan] committed suicide by jumping off the ferry? Lucky Lucan's car was found in Newhaven. The ferry 'jump' is only an assumption. Either he avoided detection for decades, perhaps with a high level conspiracy helping him along the way. Or he...

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

I'm with you guys. As far as existing/ex staff on this site are concerned, one can only wonder if a form of 'gagging-order' was/has been imposed by the school. We have all seen the 'apologistic staff' comments on here in the past. That speaks volumes. I expect that most staff feel guilty for not re...

He appears to have either died or gone abroad.

One can't help thinking he will be happy to be as elusive as Lord Lucan.

Re: Here's a hypothetical

McCall was a very good maths teacher, and I liked him. No idea he ran his house in that way, but it sounds like he would be wise not to show his face anywhere, if he's still with us, of course. One group of other people, who don't qualify as victims, but nevertheless suffer from the crimes of Dobbie...

Re: Here's a hypothetical

Hey Ash, I am so sorry that your experience of CH was so appalling. I don't agree with everything that you've said, but you've raised a number of interesting points. While the abuse that many suffered at the hands of some teachers was dreadful, it was (obviously) never part of the way that the schoo...
