Re: Pongo - Eric Littlefield

I reckon Mathews must have been on the point of retiring when he taught me and wasn't very interested (maybe he never was!). I seem to remember people lighting fires in the lab desk drawers, he didn't even flinch.

Re: Article about the Tube

Most interesting, thank you Charles. I attended CH in the 70s and don't remember the Tube being tiled in white. Re: From the sublime to the ridiculous

My favourite is about the border between Gibraltar and mainland Spain in the 70s. Don’t know if it’s an urban legend but it was said that the memos and messages between the two countries sent by the Admiralty were always signed by a certain C. O. Jones which in Spanish means bollocks.

This is a joke section, David, tongue in cheek and all that. Don't take it to heart.

Re: GRACE

Why not? It's an anecdote. I remember in my time someone covered up the Grace with a note saying It's not your lucky day. The Grecian in question calmly took out a diary and read it.

Re: From the sublime to the ridiculous

Edinburgh? Sentinej, are you a climate denier? Obviously the climate has changed many times throughout history but it seems fairly conclusive that human activity is influencing that change right now (IMO).

Re: Neil Simms

He also taught me Economics and Politics and managed to get me my highest A level grade. I remember him teaching me Geography in LE and even taught me Anthropolgy on a one to one basis as a Grecian. I believe it was the first time it had been taught at the school and was a bit of an experiment IIRC....

That's an incredible statistic, three from the same school and at the same time. Surely we can't win two World Cups in one year???
