Re: Hello! I'm back! Is there anybody here?

One of the things that would be useful on some folk albums is a lyric sheet . I don't know whether folk singers inflect in a particular way but I was listening to Eliza Carthy's Anglicana album the other night and I was struggling to follow the words. [/b] https://lyrics.az/eliza-carthy/anglicana/

Re: Letter to the Head Master

Posted here some while ago by an OB very closely involved About 342* severe cases from 1949 - 2019 perpetrated by about 28* staff, including some peer on peer, can be fairly confidently accounted for. 89* including teacher on young male/female employee since 2001* and all but about 46* since 1969*....

Re: Letter to the Head Master

The Head Teacher cannot not be aware of the estimate of 100 Old Blues in that category most of whom have not "come out". Given that fact how can they write Old Blues MAY have issues . Given the apparent outcome of discussions to date I have to wonder at the ultimate phrase. Just curious -...

Yes, the border was porous. My steward was a Grunshie from just over the border in Cote d'Ivoire.

Re: Twelve Camels For Your Wife

A chief only offered Four Cows and Seven Goats for me. He had 16 wives and 42 children already, but I’d have become number one wife, or so he said. I’ve told that story many times in the intervening years. I can understand that if he was Akan. (In English, Ashanti as in the war) We had a couple of ...

Re: Brexit

I expect we'll now see a flourish of more moderate Unionists applying for Irish citizenship just like other British citizens (including me). It started a long time ago. When I applied for a copy of my mother's birth certificate (for a different reason) they used the wrong second "christian&quo...

Re: Brexit

I read (in some outlets) that Northern Ireland would be better off joining the Republic in order to remain in the EU. This seems unlikely to me. Arlene Foster says that she would rather move to England than become part of Southern Ireland. If you really want to cause a bl**dy (as in a lot of the re...

I do (not) love American English

(On September 17, 1994, Alabama’s Heather Whitestone was selected as Miss America 1995.) Question: If you could live forever, would you and why? Answer: “I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cann...

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh R I P

A tale from many years ago. Prince Philip "invited" / Summoned Peter Hildrew (Barnes B?) and myself to a reception at Buckingham Palace in May 1960 or 1961. C M E Seaman stated that we were not allowed to go. Full stop. I have no idea what his beef was but no was the answer. The gentleman ...

http://radio.garden/search Very neat use of technology! Many thanks for this link: I foresee many hours of trying out random stations from all over. Re: Music recommendations

An interesting start, Mike. Personally I found her voice a little reedy - an octave lower might solve that. With that song there were parts I wondered if she was singing in Inuit, Canadian English or our version. Little Toy Trains was better but those opening bars seemed to have been almost lifted f...

Today's "message from the Head Teacher" concludes: In the immediate future, and in the specific context of the ‘Everyone’s Invited’ awareness-raising campaign, the School is aware that Old Blues may have issues that they wish to address relating to their time at CH. Anyone who would like t...
