Probably, the subject has never produced a squeak on this forum, because nobody else has considered it relevant to this particular forum.

Re: Youtube short on Bluecoat School monuments in the City
Does the school still operate the "Wardrobe".
I remember my 1st day as a squit, being escorted by my nurse maid, to the Wardrobe, where we were issued with our uniform, which was basically everything you wore, including underwear.
The staff looked at you, gave you what they thought would fit and ...

Fond memories of Rev' Rob'.
He showed me a good deal of understanding and compassion through an angst time.
I remember his 2 door Lancia Fulvia, as I washed it a few times and it seemed very racy for a chaplain!

Re: Useless Photos on CHOBA Website
I thought exactly the same.
I feel it is as bad as a display can be because even the individual photos are not links to find out who they are!
Never mind the photos, just a list of new members names with houses and years would be so useful.
Mind, I would prefer to know who the contributors on this ...

Re: David Newsome
Robertson D, you start by stating:
'Wellington gave up caning in the early 70s, around the time Newsome left to work at CH, so Newsome would have known that a similar school could phase it out. He chose not to'
Yet the long obituary, that you include, says he left Wellington in 1959, to return to ...

Forgive me if you don't consider this tale relevant.
7 or 8 years ago I was driving along a main road, behind a bus.
It stopped to let an elderly gent off.
As the traffic started moving, I saw him stumble into a driveway but I was in a flow of traffic so had to turn around to go back to see if he ...

Re: Stockholm Syndrome among Old Blues
I didn't actually say we gave our consent at 11 years old.
I said I visited CH and was eager to become a pupil.
I didn't give a verbal or written actual consent but I did pass an entrance exam.
Bearing in mind it was 54 years ago (for me), I was a child and all children had decisions made for them ...

Re: Stockholm Syndrome among Old Blues
So an 11 year old who hasn't given consent to a specific journey, trip away, visit etc and taken anywhere by their parents is 'kidnap'?
So many things, in everybody's lives, could be re-interpretated as victimisation.
Donald Trump is alive and well!
Hey, but most of us Old Blues did visit CH before ...

Re: Stockholm Syndrome among Old Blues
Sexual Abuse and Bullying are so wrong in any environment or establishment, but to liken boarding schools to a kidnap victim's relationship, with their captor(s), is right off the mark, offensive and too broad a damning judgement.
I have every sympathy with all the victims and the fact that CH has ...

Never been in a Nando's.
Also have never been in IKEA!
So I suppose those aren't 'normal things' as doing them once would be extraordinary to me!

Re: Looking for those in School Plays 1973 to 1976
Chris Grady's recent open invitation has set me reminiscing about Drama at CH, when I was there in the early 70s.
CH was leaping ahead of other schools in terms of Drama with the setting up of a Drama Department and the appointment of Duncun Noel-Paton.
And then the wild ambition to build a Theatre ...

Heck Rex,
So sorry for your loss.
I had spent ages trying to work out who Spoonbill was but never got to to Ben.

John

Re: Ken Grimshaw
Bringing it back to Ken Grimshaw, I remember him teaching me Techical Drawing for O Level and always appreciated his patience, although I expect I tried it near to his limit!
I have used my drawing 'skills' (not so hot) a number of times through my working life especially when I was running my own ...
