Re: On a happier note: The Good Teachers!

David Elliot - the best band Master the school has ever known
David Clements - the best right-hand man to David Elliot
Terry Clark - scary, but LAMDA trained and really knew his stuff.

I was never really one for the academic subjects...

Re: Mr Clippy

Disturbing.

Brings back memories of watching A Nightmare on Elm Street in the house common room on my squits and pretending it didn't scare the living daylights out of me.

Re: CH videos

And here's one of Beating Retreat 1992 - my last retreat and the last for the legend that was David Eliot. I did every Retreat during my time at CH, progressing from the Bugle Band statue on my Squits and Third From, to the main band from there on in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr2EF39FdY4&...

Re: House structure

He left that year I think. I knew the lyrics of the Housey Rap well (I believe I still have a cassette tape copy somewhere) but I hadn’t realised he was a literal w****r. Well, my only source for this is the Housey Rap, which I imagine is referring to his personality rather than his habits. On the ...

When Richard and I were at Hove Crown Court, there was an ITV reporter in court and a camera crew wa...

Re: What word would you have used?

When I went to the bank today there was a notice on the door saying: Temporary Closure. This branch will be closed today from 2.00pm to 2.20pm. The nearest branch is in Pwllheli. To me, temporary seems far too long for a 20 minute closure, what do you think? BTW, it would take more than 20 minutes ...

Beating Retreat - 1992

CH related, yet partially unrelated. I've been looking through my old VHS video collection and found my copy of the 1992 beating retreat. It was my Grecian year and David Elliot's final year as Bandmaster, so has particular poignancy. To add to its value it was also filmed by Terry Clark! Would anyo...

His sister worked at CH as well (Miss Robinson surprisingly enough  ) - I think she may have taught needlework. She lived in BaB and was assistant house mistress or something like that. There was definitely a teacher/pupil relationship going on at Hertford when I was there. Horsham - I also knew of one but I was sworn to secrecy - I knew both parties involved. I remember all those shenanigans too. We are talking here about activities that meant immediate expulsion when I was at CH...
