Slightly off topic, but does anyone from that era remember any piss being taken out of CMES's surname? He was known as 'Clarence', 'Clarrie', Milt. But that was it. But maybe I was just very naive!
I don't recall any urine extraction.

He was aloof, respected and quiet during my time.

My apologies. I'd forgotten their proper title.

Re: 1968 and all that

Too late for me Freaky. HOWEVER, I was in Frejus near Nice as Paris and the Sorbonne erupted and had drinks with many National police officers who were barracked there and were about to travel north to the capital to 'bang some heads'. Sorry. Slightly off topic but memories flooded back at your post.

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

Just to let you know that Dobbie's sentence is being reviewed by the Attorney General. If you follow the link below and click on the updated spreadsheet dated 18 June 2019 it's number 341. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/outcome-of-unduly-lenient-sentence-referrals#history Thank...

Re: Here's a hypothetical

I am very pleased at some sensible posts offering more information without bullying or trolling accusations. Names and memories of the past are still very important. I was very lucky to leave in the summer of 1963. Sussex Police are still on the case and I appeal to anyone who is suffering from this...

The Doc is still teaching!
Great man.
Ah oops, I found a reference in a Blue in 2016 mentioning his retirement. Amazing that he is still teaching and no doubt making a mark on people’s lives.
That is so nice to hear.

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

Regarding Dobbie still being a priest or not, I take the following direct from Facebook from Joshua Bell (who will be priested shortly) ‘at the time of Dobbie's arrest in 2016, he was teaching at Shrewsbury School. Once charged, he would have been suspended pending the investigation - and at that t...

Re: Here's a hypothetical

McCall's name keeps coming up. He appears to have either died or gone abroad. One can't help thinking he will be happy to be as elusive as Lord Lucan. He should be so 'Lucky !!! Bit off topic, but surely he [Lucan] committed suicide by jumping off the ferry? Lucky Lucan's car was found in Newhaven....

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

Thank you for your perspective. Not everyone hides behind a mask or wears a long black coat. Would you care to elaborate Mr H ? Nothing sinister, JR, I was just thinking of some imagery from Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks" album. There is no intention to trivialise. I admire the statement that so man...

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

I bet there’s a fair few teachers who would really love (and probably benefit from) unloading some home truths about what went on and the behaviour of the SMT at the time. As awful as this whole episode is, I think about how many great people there were at CH, who went above and beyond their positi...

Re: Sheila and Peter Higgins - character references for Gary Dobbie

I have to agree with 'Freaky'.
I had the chance to get two Grand-Children into CH. One failed and one declined and got a BA Hons at Uni after state school education
In hindsight, I'm quite glad.

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

I'm with you guys.

As far as existing/ex staff on this site are concerned, one can only wonder if a form of 'gagging-order' was/has been imposed by the school.

We have all seen the 'apologistic staff' comments on here in the past. That speaks volumes.
