You never threw up? What a wasted opportunity to drag the good name of Christ's Hospital through the mud. Shame on you.
73 in a weeks time and still more than partial to a tipple or three. Body may be getting very weak, but tummy and brain still more than active.

So did you throw up on the train or wait till you got back to CH before doing it?
No ! I was fine ! I had already decided this was to be my last term at CH. I had already been offered an interview with Surrey Plod, so didn't really give a toss !

Re: Leave Days in Horsham

The only leave day I recall with relish was probably my last in 1963 when I and another OB travelled to my home by train and returned in the early evening. It was summer 1963 and somehow, I still don't know how, we managed it, managed to buy four cans of Worthington from the buffet car. It made the ...

Re: The school glider

You had to sit on your own parachute in the plane . . . made into a cushion All very well having a parachute. 1) have you ever used one? 2) could you get out to use it? My brother had one but he couldn't get out of the Lancaster Exactly my thoughts !! It takes ages to be trained to use one properly.

Re: Pilgrim Fathers 1620 -- 400th anniversary -- any connections?

No direct connection other than William Mullins haled from my home town of Dorking. There is a blue plaque on his old home in West Street, centre of our antique business. "William Mullins (c. 1572 – 1621) and his family traveled as passengers on the historic 1620 voyage to America on the Pilgrim shi...

Re: The CCF Signals Section

As I have previously said on the other thread, although 'Uncle' never taught me, I got on very well with him.

Strange in a way, but a bit of a Father figure to an only child who lost his Father when very young.

Re: R Rae

In my years at CH, I can honestly say that whilst I remember Rocker as a member of staff, and I knew him by sight, I do not think that I was ever once in his presence or heard him speak, not having been in his House or a class that he taught, or even a game that he refereed. I knew him mainly by re...

I seem to remember my Mother ALWAYS wore gloves and a hat when attending church services. It was considered the correct dress code.

Re: R Rae

I remember Rae well. I came across his name before I went to CH. 3 of us went to CH from my Junior school, and Ian Johnson told me that his Housemaster was Hip Hip, after which I was supposed to say, "Who?", and he would say "Rae". Ian became a member of Mensa and Professor at Nottingham University...

I have vague recollections of the glider.

I can't remember it getting more than a couple of feet off the ground.
