I didn't think it would take long to generate a response and my faith in the CH mindset is well placed.

A young lady spent a number of nights in my study bedroom. The 5am hike back up the back avenue was always a bit of a thrill.

Incidently the extra-curricular activities in the years before the Hertford girls arrived were equally entertaining........

There was Grecian (also a school monitor) who was caught in a girls dorm.

He got off 'so to speak' on the basis that he was 'confused' after a night in the club and had gone to his old bed location before the house in question became a girls house!!

Just for the record.... Vonny - your concern for your own reputation is intriguing!!! However I can confirm that it was two Grecians involved after a night in the club, drinking shandy, but I feel discretion should now prevail.... All this does make me wonder whether we should have a "whatever ...

I went into the Grecians the year the girls arrived. If I remember correctly there had already been a couple of brave daughters of masters trying out the system and things did seem to integrate smoothly. Female teachers had also been around for a while - I remember Miss Lindsey's (I think she became...

I spent 5 very happy, challenging and fulfilling years working on the "crew" under Terry. I learnt many things, under his guidance, during that time that have benefitted me throughout my life - not all of them suitable for printing! I have little doubt that all who passed through the same ...

We were very liberal in Leigh Hunt A. Showering wasn't just a necessity after sports it was a social activity, indulged at bizarre times often involving coffee, loud music and guests!

I also had a master key.

It would open both classroom blocks next to Big School and the back door to dining hall which was really useful.

If I remember correctly most Leigh Hunt A Grecians had one.

Yes, it is a bit guilt issue here as the French government removed a bank holiday, well they do have 12, to act as some sort of penance day or something - I probably got the translation wrong after all I failed my French O level!

Why not. As long as it does not put us in too much pain.

I kept in touch with Iona for a long time, but I have not seen her since her wedding a few years ago.

JR, PM me the joke.

Yes, I am just a couple of km's north west of Versaille. I have yet to 'do' the Chateau but it looks impressive and there was a great concert, to mark the official start of summer, there last week.

I will explore more in August when the French head south and leave the rest of France to the tourists.
