Re: History in the fifties?

As a very new British Council wife, the first buffet dinner I hosted was for the cast of a touring production of A Man for All Seasons. This was in Ghana, 1970. I was teaching at Wesley Girls’ High School and some of the students went to see the play. I remember one getting very indignant with me sa...

Re: Politics

I've had a new, to me, ad today, inviting me to join the Knights Templar! I thought I might be ruled out as lacking a part of the anatomy that almost all other posters here have!

Re: Politics

Things were very different at Hertford. I can’t remember anyone doing O levels early. For most people, 8 was the maximum, though it was possible to take either Art or Music, almost as an aside, as an extra ninth one. The A levels was the rule too, I desperately wanted to do a fourth, I could already...

Re: Politics

My latest have been very boring, slim line wallets - never ever looked for one, and researching family history, I’ve done nothing like that for several years.

I don’t understand the algorithm!

Re: Politics

I get quite a variety, never been offered an exotic husband though! It seems to bear little relationship with recent browsing, I’ve never looked for retro record players, a recent one.

Many thanks, kind sirs. I only knew the word as a male singing voice, not as an instrument., but I knew somebody here would know!

Question for former band members

I had an email from a friend in the States, in it she said her grandson was learning to play the baritone and hoping to join the local band soon.

I know I could look it up, but is this term used here for a brass instrument? Did you have them in the band?

No, only saw them as topics. Had an early morning!
Now I know what the exclamation mark is for!
That was one of the reasons I asked the question, David!

Julian, they are all over the place at the moment, sorry I’m not going to complain about each individually!

Re: CH Letter re support for abuse survivors

Our Housemistresses were non-teaching members of staff. I believe they were treated as second class members of staff. As I remember it, they had one afternoon off a week and one night away each term. They had two rooms to live in, sitting room downstairs. That was also her office and where you were ...
