Flagged up as having been a school Chaplain at last, then.

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

Shame. And there we all were, on our very best behaviour and choosing our words so very, very carefully. I smells a rat. Maybe l'école was worried that some of the content would be quoted by the press after the trial ended, adding well-deserved insult to injury. Or perhaps they were contacted by the...

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

Just look at the Cliff Richard vs. the BBC case. Still on-going, but when did we last hear anything about it in the news?

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

Thanks, Richard.

It's astonishing that the journalist didn't even bother Googling the name Gary Dobbie for background information, though. Almost beyond belief, in fact.

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

Isn't it interesting that the Brighton Argus doesn't allude to Gary Dobbie's being a clergyman? It suggests a deliberate decision not to. He's merely referred to as having been 'head of house' and having been a teacher who also taught at Shrewsbury School. Even when the complainant in question refer...

There's a very strong case for moderating abysmal limericks. Not to mention moderating men in baseball caps.

Re: Ajaz Karim found guilty

I must admit that I don't for one moment comprehend why anyone'd think it made sense to try the remaining two defendants together. One of them is accused by just one complainant, the other by multiple complainants. One of them is accused of offences against a solitary female, the other of multiple o...

Re: Ajaz Karim found guilty

Right, yes, of course. Karim pleaded not guilty. That's torn it.

I wonder if they'll all end up in HMP Whatton, sitting around talking about the old times and each claiming to be the least pervy of the three.

Thanks for your input, Richard.

Re: Lamb House Photos

For what it's worth: In the 1975/76 photo (or is it 1977?) posted by 5h17shoveller , the lad on far right of the second row down (next to Colin Eley) was named Will Wyatt. As for Steve Bartlett, I can remember right back to when he was called Steve Barrett. Hounslow's answer to Paul Weller, he was.

Re: Date of sentencing of Webb and Burr

I've now begun wondering what the Law says about historical sex offences which were perpetrated by a minor against another minor, albeit more than forty years ago. I understand that the Law considers that anyone over the age of ten is responsible for his or her own actions, so where does that leave ...

Re: Date of sentencing of Webb and Burr

In my day, the idea of reporting a member of staff would've seemed pretty daunting, because it could so obviously have backfired very easily indeed. We'd have been worried about getting into trouble ourselves if the staff-member, having been confronted by the headmaster, had flatly denied everything...

Re: Date of sentencing of Webb and Burr

My query is to do with a point of law, rather than to do with Messrs. Burr & Webb. But self-evidently my query relates to a type of offence somewhat different from theirs, which is why I've chosen my words so carefully.
