Re: Yellow dresses

I seem to remember my Mother ALWAYS wore gloves and a hat when attending church services. It was considered the correct dress code.

Re: R Rae

I remember Rae well. I came across his name before I went to CH. 3 of us went to CH from my Junior school, and Ian Johnson told me that his Housemaster was Hip Hip, after which I was supposed to say, "Who?", and he would say "Rae". Ian became a member of Mensa and Professor at N...

Re: The school glider

I have vague recollections of the glider.

I can't remember it getting more than a couple of feet off the ground.

Re: Pongo - Eric Littlefield

Just to add some points. Anyone connected to/with armed forces during WW11 would in security/S.O.E, for obvious reasons, had their service records ' hidden '. ' Pongo ' was a common name for senior members of the R.A.F. As I remember him, he was a tall man. I seem to remember that Spitfire and possi...

Re: Pongo - Eric Littlefield

I only remember him as a master who presided over the dining hall and ran the R.A.F. section of the CCF. He never taught me but I know he had a fearsome reputation.

Re: The tragedy of William Gibbs

In 1877, punishments were harsh and generally carried out in public. Having said that, 30 birch strokes does seem excessive.

Don't forget, in our times, both corporal and capital punishment have been abolished.

Well, for us oldies, that is !!

No idea of the dimensions.

I know it was considered for Harry Potter filming and has been used for filming a Fairy Liquid ad some years ago.

Re: Windows Updates

I use Windows 10, and have had speed problem issues in the past after an update.

I received an update a few days ago which seems to have dealt with the speed problem.

Re: Elizabeth Cairncross

The only bullying in CMES's time was verbal and occasionally slight physical.

I never heard of food being denied.

It does seem things definitely got worse after my time.
