Re: Old Blue County cricketers

He took 6 wickets in a warm-up 50 0ver match v Glamorgan. He then had an abdominal tear, was nearly recovered then tore it again. Hopefully he is nearly back to full fitness. He is very frustrated! Thank you Howard. Let's hope he recovers properly this time and then gets an early opportunity to sho...

Re: Old Blue County cricketers

I've not followed Gloucestershire's matches religiously this season but I don't recall seeing Stuart Whittingham's name.

Is he injured or suffering the same pecking order problems as at Sussex does anybody (Howard) know?

Re: Sheila and Peter Higgins - character references for Gary Dobbie

People might wish to know that Sheila Higgins appears to have attended both of Gary Dobbie's trial to provide a character reference on his behalf. At the second trial he was of course already a convicted sex offender. Sheila Higgins who taught at CH for many years, is now an 'Assistant Priest' at a...

Day 2 report from The Mirror. Unpleasant reading. I understand from Leeautemps that the Court is not sitting today. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/private-school-chaplain-molested-pupil-14574436 Unpleasant reading indeed. Much as we may want to, we must remember to resist the temptation to c...

Re: Anyone else who hated being at CH ?

Just read the whole thread and realised that I haven't commented. In short there were times I hated being at CH and felt very alone but equally there were times I loved it too. Bit like life generally really I feel so not peculiar to CH. As for Rockfreak's comments I think if you scratched the surfa...

Re: Do You Tell People That You Went To Public School?

No.

As may be the case possibly with AMP, I find it easier to listen rather than talk so the situation rarely if ever arises. Most people enjoy talking about themselves which suits me just fine.

Re: Cricket coach ?

I hate doing this, Andy, but time has blurred your memory. On the preceding Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Cambridge University had played away at Aldershot v Combined Services. They came to stay at C.H. at the behest of new Head Master, David Newsome - he had known Majid and others previously from h...

Re: Cricket coach ?

The CH Bob Clarke inherited the nickname "Nobby" from his predecessor at Northants. He was a fine coach, a fearsome competitor and a highly dedicated groundsman. I have many, many fond memories of him and a whole raft of anecdotes about him. I believe he also played left-half for West Bro...

Re: Cricket coach ?

I am just recovering from watching Saturday's rugby [' Scotland were robbed ' … … ' Farrell should have ben red-carded' ] by reading Stephen Chalke's book Runs in the Memory .On pp.57-71 there is an account of Lancashire v. Northamptonshire, August 1953. Opening the bowling for Northants with Frank...

Coincidentally an article mentioning Rupert Sheldrake in this week's Catholic Herald.

Re: Music Lessons - not a pupil

I would recommend the Samuel Applebaum Stringbuilder books series for starting, but very young they would need to be explained by an adult with a modicum of music knowledge. I am trying (OK Freaky, we all know!) to learn to play the guitar left by my late son who played in a Manchester group; any s...

Welcome to the forum Kittypuss.

Kerren Simmonds sadly passed away a few years ago and is missed both on this forum and in the CH Community generally.
