Christopher (Kit) Bartlett
I was sorry to read in the latest CHOBA newsletter that yet another member of this forum, Kit Bartlett, has passed away. He seemed very knowledgeable on here regarding Old Blue sportsmen in particular but on other subjects too. It has come as no surprise thus to learn, recently and coincidentally, t...

Re: Did anyone know?
During my senior years at CH i got a bit drunk in more than one teacher's house Which teachers? Like i would say! So adults giving minors alcohol (like Durrant did) is entirely normal? If so, why not indicate which teachers did this with you? I think we need to take a little bit of a step back here...

Holiday cottages for me.
Also an invitation to sign up for Medical School. The algorithm cannot know my age or the fact that my Physics with Chemistry 'O' level was obtained at the lowest pass grade!

Re: What is the impact of a CH education?
The survey seemed to be a crass mechanism to identify where to focus their fundraising efforts; “What is your income and are you likely to part with it?” I’d Be happy if someone proved me wrong Agree. It is not a survey but a data collection exercise. I would have filled it in had they made it clea...

Re: Tom Lawson: the interview
I've just stumbled across an old quote from Nigel Lawson in the Independent dated 23 November 2015. He is suggesting that public money should not be spent any further in pursuing historic sex cases. Now I don't know the chronology of all this but was Lawson's son Nigel deputy head of CH at that dat...

Re: Former teacher, Tom Snook
HI. Just seeing if anyone remembers this teacher, or knows who he's up to know. Used to teach 'CDT' (Craft, Design and Technology) in the 1990s, and left, but returned to sailing holidays with the Scouts with Shippen and possibly Burr. The 1990s was way after my time so I didn't know him. However I...

Re: What is the impact of a CH education?
Has anyone else had this survey in an email from Hugo Middlemas today? I haven’t looked at the survey yet but it strikes me as very bad timing. I would have thought that they would have left any such surveys in abeyance for the moment. As I only had the one chance at Secondary School education, lik...

Re: Letter re support for abuse survivors
Just seen this published on the CHOBA site:- https://www.christs-hospital.org.uk/old-blues/old-blue-updates/headmaster-and-treasurers-statement-to-old-blues-23-july-2019/ I guess it’s tough to get this all 100% right, but sounds fair enough in terms of making contacting after each trial, and only t...

Re: Letter to Head Master
Junior: Barnes, Maine, Leigh Hunt That was the case during 'our' time but my understanding is that they changed it later (eighties maybe when the girls came) so that, for example, Maine B was the junior house and Maine A the senior. Later still ( when they built the Grecians houses maybe) I believe...

Re: Letter to Head Master
A quick search of 'Ian Haydens' has revealed two born in 1943 and one in 1946.
The 1946 one was Ian T (Trevor) Hayden and I believe he passed away in 2011.
Do the initials I T H ring any bells with anyone?

Re: Letter to Head Master
Thanks Rob, vey interesting Does anyone know Hayden's full name, dates etc. When did he leave CH and did he teach elsewhere? Is he still alive. Who is Reverend Atkinson? Were these trips before or after Burr left CH? Did people know why he had left? We have talked on the forum about Webb's departur...

Re: Letter to Head Master
Ok just one answer tonight and the other tomorrow - that's a good deal as I am knackered. In the early 1970's (pre Mich term 1972) a master was 'removed' or suddenly left the school. He drove a white jag. This was Hayden. The reason was (and there does not have to be a discussion as I now know it i...

Re: Letter to Head Master
I hope it’s in some way therapeutic for you to focus like this, I guess it gives you an outlet to channel your anger and frustration towards. I don’t understand the reference to Hayden- who is he? And can you share what about the boats came up at Martin’s trial? I don’t want to step into territory ...
