Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Thank you Jaknat, and best wishes to your boys too with their exams coming up (unless they've already had them that is!).

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Oh well, that's something that won't bother me! He is my youngest and all the rest are adults now. So they can help out. Any other useful bits of advice gratefully received!

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Gosh! Is that right about them not starting on the same day as everyone else? Same every year? So cross out Sunday 2nd, and pencil in Wednesday 5th? Cheaper on the ferry crossing at any rate, midweek!
Thanks!

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Hi, could anyone possibly email me the school term dates and the rough time of New Entrant's Day do you think? Tried going on the website to find them, but my rubbish internet connection refused to let me download them, and as I am going to have to plan about a year ahead travel wise, then I shall n...

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Hi, I shall be doing lots of research for the easiest and the cheapest routes! I have four grownup children who live in the UK and I shall be relying on them for some of the running about, but as they love their little brother, I don't think they are going to mind much. They'll be having him on leav...

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

 He's in! The letter came today. I was out lurking for the postman, who doesn't come till about mid-day, and flagged him down. There, lying on the seat, was the A4 envelope! I ripped it out of his hands as he offered it, I can tell you! I was so convinced he wasn't going to get a place! I bur...

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Congratulations! And well done to your DCs.
Was it a big or small envelope?
I daren't ring up. If I did and it was a yes, then it would be okay, but if I did and it was a no, then I think I'd cry. I am just too nervous. Our post has been, and nothing, so maybe tomorrow.

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Goodness knows how long it will take to get to France! We have a worse than useless postal service! How many antacids can one stomach take? I am too old for sleepless nights! I had hoped DS had forgotten about it, but he told me the other day that he was "very stressed" waiting for the res...

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

My stomach is doing the same so I'm trying hard not to think about it, resisting the urge to keep looking on here and see if anyone has heard! I definitely feel worse when I come on here and join in the nervous waiting instead of doing it on my own! But it's so hard to resist the temptation! The hor...

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

Can anyone tell me what the letter looked like? Was there just one slip of paper in it, or was it a bit fatter with other bits in it? Does other info come later or at the same time if your child gets in? Big or little? I am sooooooo nervous. I think DS has forgotten all about it! We are likely to ge...

Re: Day Pupils

Hi Ailurophile, that is indeed a bit strange. Not having been on this forum then, I had no idea. Why do you think there were all these vacancies then, and people left on a waiting list? Odd, don't you think?

Re: Day Pupils

It would be really interesting to know exactly how many pupils there are currently in each school year, and to see where the shortfall from a past 820 (with no special Grecian's House so LESS accommodation than now) down to 780 is. It would also be interesting to know exactly how many foreign source...

Re: Day Pupils

How did the numbers of pupils at the school get so low then? My friend whose daughter was there about 15 or so years ago told me that then there were about 820 pupils (I think more boys than girls but not sure) when there was no Grecian's House, so presumably less accommodation than there is now, an...
