STRIKES
in 1972 there used to be a lot of power cuts I remember it well. I was working at the MoD at the time. There were so many strikes it was difficult to keep up with what was going on. In the late afternoons and on into the evening we used to work by candlelight - literally - and use torches to find o...

I've done business with Hong Kong before, with no problems, but think that we have come across some sharks this time. I lived in Singapore/Malaya for eight years. Although I obviously haven't met the peopl...

PEDANTS UNITED
JR,
Sorry about that - bit cheeky, really.
Question: "Who led the Pedant's Revolt?"
Answer: "Which Tyler."
I agree about the stabbing,
David

DOGS, IMPORTANCE OF IN RELATION TO HEADMASTERS, NEW
Great Plum wrote: I like the way that owning a labrador is important! Always look first for the simple explanation. The only pic of the new head I could find showed hims in a standing pose with a dog at his feet. I saw no point in alluding to his height, looks, hair style or build, so all I could th...

BAND 21 APRIL
Swirl,
Thanks for that. Do you mean that the Housie band is leading the Quenn's procession? That really is quite an honour.

According to this afternoon's BBC Five O'Clock News a party of British explorers has just reached the source of the Nile, having walked 4,000 (four thousand) miles in 8 (eight) days. Wow! Some walk!

A lot of people refer to the CH Club as if it was a failure; for example, a recent entry on this forum says: Surely this is a new body - the successor to a body which nearly (if not actually) failed. This is extremely unfair; I want to explain why and I hope that the critics will have the decency to...
