I'm not a lawyer but it is my belief that copyright ceases after a certain time (?60 years not sure though). I believe it was Rev Upcott who composed the hymn late 19th or early 20th century so I would have thought copyright would no longer apply. Just found this site that MIGHT help. I've not look...

Spent half the day sampling the dubious delights of the new "Euterpeville". Hardly a direction sign in sight. Plenty of threats though - "have you paid and displayed?" "Charge to have wheel clamp removed £250 plus £50 at night and £5 for using plastic card for payment&quo...

Re: Forum Logo

A very personal opinion - sorry! The logo of a drum doesn't mean anything to me as a Hertford Old Girl! :( It is a very good picture though - like the rounded edges! Munch OK, Angela; what logo would you suggest? Perhaps a copy of one of the old prints of a Christ Hospital pupil? Male or female? wh...

I'm not saying I find it cheeky!. I think it's pretty smart to do that and I'm pretty sure that the house funds are spent correctly, it's just some of my friends and my dad thought it a little strange to be asking for an additional sum of money on top of a parental contribution. Gemma: just think o...

Did a spybot check but no trojans - only a few tracking cookies easily disposed of (they couldn't have sent a message home in any case)

Got it now but the music almost drowns out the singing. I wouldn't have even recognised it

Re: one for the phone

Just found this on CHA website http://www.chassociation.org/news/index.php#286 (I believe a current member of staff has had this ring tone for some time!) There seems to be something wrong: tyhe URL diverts me via sedoparking to a sales site with the same URL saying that "Your browser cannot f...

Just a thought:
in my day the coats were made of wool and the bands were made of linen.
I wonder what the writers of Deuteronomy would say.

In an overwhelmingly Christian/religious environment who was guilty of disobeying the Bible?

A new twist on an old story. A friend in France has just had their phone number changed so when I call the new number using the normal French 0033 prefix I get a recorded message that the number is not in use - in GERMAN!. Apparently this happens only with (all) English callers - not other Europeans...

found this when searching for a line in the foundation hymn i couldn't remember! Thought it may help some of you clear up what it was http://user.itl.net/~geraint/christshospital.html Seems to me there are a couple of errors in that site: I gave up Latin after 2 minutes flat but it seems to me that...

Can't remember what it tasted like - long pig I suppose. Hmmmm. Hope not. Long pig is what Maori's called human flesh - back in the days when they still ate it. I wasn't going to be quite so specific - I expect that there may be one person here who has a weak stomach. "Apparently"...

What about that tinned powdered egg ?? The chickens must have had a really hard time !! I can't remember powdered egg (my mother probably dealt with it when I wasn't looking) but I well remember dipping eggs in isinglass to try to preserve them. It didn't always work as my nose told me on many occa...

And I do remember all sorts of things hanging outside the butcher's shop. Rabbits , ooh! You're right, everyone seemed much healthier - but remember the great Smog of '63? i know it was a terrible time for vulnerable people, but I and my schoolfriends loved it as we groped our way to school, from l...
