Re: Day Pupils - announcement pending

Wow, serious business. Not that I want to see the school close, but I can't see day pupils fitting into the community life of CH. But I guess its a pretty serious situation!

Re: Thrifty tips

sounds obvious but make sure you don't leave stuff on standby e.g. stereos, dvd players etc as this uses up way more than people think. also invest in energy saving lightbulbs and install them - also gives a good return. can't remember if someone already mentioned it but shop at your local marker - ...

Re: The Forthcoming General Election

I have a perfectly good education thanks - I even have an MSc from a Russell Group university? Does that by default mean I am too well educated to be a Labour voter? jhopgood (sorry I'm not good with quoting, responding etc etc) - I'll admit that say a year ago, I didn't have a lot of faith in GB. B...

Re: The Forthcoming General Election

Hilton is an OB? He is evil.

Personally, I despise the Tories and as such will not be voting for them and campaigning against them. I mean, who would trust Cameron, who has thrown a 19 point lead away?

I mean, seriously.

(Don't wind me up, or I'll get all Labour on you.)

Re: Should I change my browser?

I use either Firefox or Safari. Have been using Firefox for about 5 years now. Both browsers are far more functional and "less clunky" than IE - which also has the most viruses written for it. Have to use IE at work and hate it. Would def recommend you try another one.

Re: Early Lent Half Term

I know you have to get a certain amount of GCSE's above a B to stay on and the entry for a new Dep was hard - it was B's or above when I started. If you're going to be selective then you need minimum academic standards I guess, but it seems very tough. But then things (and this isn't just about CH) ...

It looks like so much fun - though a pain I am sure!

I hear a rumour that more snow/cold weather is expected here this week!

Re: Early Lent Half Term

I have lots of opinions on what has been written, but most of it has been said already. I don't envy those making the decisions about these matters, but at least people are trying to keep CH alive. I'd love to give money to CH but almost 8 years after I left I am still too poor....one day. But anywa...

Re: Who's the Minister for Men?

Out of curiousity, what would a Minister for Men do?

When we had arguments about mens officers in student unions, we decided that they would organise beer drinking sessions, video games and football...so not much point then ;)

Re: Does anyone on this forum go to church?

I do not go to church and can't see this changing. I liked it at CH but that was because I was in the choir. Just don't feel as though it would add anything to my life. But everyone is different and I completely respect (and admire) those who do go and do have faith.
