Re: On a happier note: The Good Teachers!
There is already a posting called Favourite Teachers on this Forum and so maybe this new thread is doubling up what has been said unless and being pedantic there is a difference between a good teacher and favourite one

Re: House structure
In the 80s you could choose your Senior House in theory but you did not always get it!

Oh dear..here we go again.
Another round of negative publicity though this time concerning pupils. All rather sad and disappointing.

Re: Allegations of abuse in today's news
Terrible publicity for the school and in the press reports I read; they all mentioned that school fees were 31 500£ a year and no mention of the charitable side.

RICHARD "Killer" FRY RIP
I read with sadness in recent CHOBA newsletter the news of Killer Fry's passing. Much has been written here on his heroics in WW11 and his Military Cross.
I will remember him as my LE Biology teacher and of course the best Hall Warden ever! A gentleman and one of CHs finest. RIP Sir.

Re: Derek Baker
I was equally surprised to see the news and yet none of it anywhere else. Baker was my headmaster and appointed me Senior Grecian and put me up for the Morehead Scholarship, so I have much to thank him for. I think he had a rough ride as Headmaster and no doubt had issues on the "merger" a...

Yes Adrian, we might have been in the same classes.Sadly my memory is as bad as yours because I can't remember as I've been through some quite traumatic times.I was looking through some old Birthday cards and found some from Piers Gielgud Col. B,a fellow Gemini.I remember whenever we met he always ...

Re: Masters' Nicknames
Boomer is mentioned in Tommy's post from January this year. I started this thread and can't belive I left JMC out as he was the guy who taught me English, coached AThletics with taffy Williams and appointed me President of Grecians Club! Perhaps the fact that I did not mention his nickname shows how...

Re: Memorable Sermons
I remember Newsome's last sermon, must have been 1979? He was a big fan of A.A. Milne and delivered a wonderful sermon which I think was reproduced in an dition of The Blue. Lots of references to Christopher Robin and Pooh.

But in my day it was Mr Perry for Tech Drawing; Ken Stratton for Metalwork and the irrepalcable Ken Grimshaw for Woodwork. I wonder how many lamps are out there in the world as we all had to make one in the 3rd form!

Re: Old Blues Day, 2012
How did he cope, Frances? Bill Mitchell was in Peele B when CH was still a boys boarding school. He was on UF when I was in Grecians year. Actually he was very mobile and active as best he could duing my time there. Sadly I heard that he died soon after I had left CH and this may have been 1985 or ...
