Re: Leavers and fees

I know this forum is unofficial (and long may it remain so), but as this subject will be of extreme concern to Old Blues, parents, prospective parents and, not least, pupils, it might be useful if somebody with the authority to speak for the Foundation / School could come here and post a brief overv...

Re: FOUNDATION HYMN

Is it not likely that on this occasion the band was used specifically because of the recording? A brass section drawn from members of the band was often used in the Chapel on special occasions, so that's probably the case here. As in John's time, we also used to get out and about. I remember playin...

Re: SHOES !!!!!!

If it upsets you that much, why wait to complain? Being realistic, it is completely impossible to police the entire campus, together with bits of the surrounding countryside. I'm sure the authorities do their best to control smoking, but if a teenager wants to slink off for a smoke then he or she wi...

Re: ITS RUGBY TIME AGAIN

Well, I sat through all three matches at the weekend. Enjoyed France showing everyone how to play, couldn't believe how Scotland pressed self-destruct against Wales, endured England's clueless antics yesterday, and got very angry at Borthwick's post-match comments. His attempts to put a positive spi...

Re: Early Lent Half Term

Did anyone see 'Leaving home at 8' on channel 4 last night-filmed at Highfield School, Liphhook? Yes, I saw it. I must admit to having reservations about sending girls to board at such a tender age. It seems Highfield predominately caters for children of the members of the armed forces. ( Presumabl...

Directed at nobody in particular - just a general comment. And I'm sure it's anything but easy.....

Re: ITS RUGBY TIME AGAIN

A couple of changes for England this weekend - Flutey and Cole in. Good news, I think, although it means yet another Kiwi in a white shirt (although he deserves his place). I wonder if the ridiculously-named Kiwi ex-rugby league player Shontayne Hape will feature any time soon. I know players can qu...

All the local schools here have a prom, including CH, it seems. The West Sussex County Times publishes photos every year. How DO they afford all those dinner suits and ball gowns?

All the Tube was blocked with sandbags, during the War, between Houses, and in 1940 Juniors slept down there. The sandbages had not been removed in 1946 when I left. Apropos HE crystals ------ VERY dangerous. I was once (A VERY long time ago) called out into the Sahara to a wartime Italian Airfield...

Re: Early Lent Half Term

I'm wondering how exactly lost time can be made up on Saturdays. Surely the hours are filled with lessons which have already been timetabled? Anyway, reading through this topic, I can understand the various misgivings some staff and parents may have about fully-boarding education but if, after due c...
