In some cases they can be offered a tag and released earlier than normal.

Re: prison releases
The French immigration would be within their rights to prevent either or both entering France from any country (including another EU nation) and if they do get in then the local Mairie are pretty powerful about people living in their area. I had to undergo a 30 minute interview with the "patro...

Re: prison releases
Webb and Dobbie both lived in France prior, they will need Probation permission to return there whilst on license. Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
Still trying to cover up even during the independent investigation!! This from a BBC report in 2011: Letters from 1966 between the then Archbishop of Canterbury and a bishop show the Church agreed that a convicted paedophile should be ordained. The correspondence has emerged in a report into the Chu...

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
The 'Babes in the Wood' is a notorious case from 1970 involving a particularly vile low life, Ronald Jebson. Watching a BBC documentary on the case many years ago revealed that paedophiles in prison like to share their experiences and derive great amusement from it. There have been others, but witho...

Re: prison releases
PEDs according to my calculations: These assume release at half way point if no prison infractions and then under supervision for the remainder of the sentence. Burr is different as he is serving an "extended" sentence because he is still considered a danger to children. Two thirds. Also I...

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
Same in my day, 1985 to 1992. No doors ever locked, and no boundary security of any sort, except the mythical “night watchman” Haha, that brings back memories, the night watchman with 1200 acres to patrol. Ridiculous really, but I suppose it ticked a box in the insurance. Masters could drive their ...

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
Until CH explains how the abuse was able to happen, it can't say with confidence that it couldn't happen again. If on the other hand it knows it can't happen again, then please explain how it was able to happen. There were one or two stories of "dirty old men" from outside managing to gain...

Re: Michael Porteous
This tribute is in the October 2018 issue of St Peter's Church, West Blatchington. My condolences to his family. Michael Porteous Thank you for all the many cards and messages that we have received. Michael was a proud Australian born in Tasmania, but spent most of his life in Sydney. Michael was th...

Re: Did anyone know?
Of course they knew! I have been given some reliable inside information that it was an open secret in the staff common room. It was joked about, they all knew who was up to it. They colluded. Also... the same source told me that it was known among Oxbridge graduate circles that if you had certain p...

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
George Carey is still alive and allowed to sit in the Lords despite calls for him to resign https://www.secularism.org.uk/news/2017/06/lord-carey-faces-calls-to-resign-from-lords-and-face-criminal-investigation Two very different matters here. Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
I remember reading with interest the report of his caution in one of the broadsheets in 1993. It was sympathetically reported with mischievous novices being blamed for him being treated very unfairly. He confirmed me and I was prepared by Dobbie and Porteous. I recall one house communion Ball took s...

Re: Bishop Ball documentary BBC2 2100 TONIGHT
It just shows that patronage is required to get to the top in any organisation and it comes with obligations.
And the way the Establishment works is not going to change.
The local police and the CPS were nobbled and even now no one is being held to account for obstructing a police investigation.

By 1980 he had a beard and brown natty health specs and remained thus so for my entire stay.

Re: Neil Simms
Oddly, although he appears to be after my time, the name is ringing a bell from way way back. Could he have started at CH as a young master in the mid-60's ?? Seems unlikely though. Yes JR 1960 An excerpt from The Ridley Society: In the winter of 1960 George Seaman offered me a post at Christ’s Hos...
