All far too recent for me, I fear.

Ali G. There's a name to be conjured with.

Personally, I thought Richard Maddeley's 'take-off' was better than the original !

In response to JR - I am not sure who reads this site. I think that some staff do read it, but they may not comment publicly. As for the CH Admin ( I assume by this you mean the Foundation) who knows? I only found out about this Forum by default. When I comment, I do so personally. My views do not,...

I have the one on the left, AND the one on the right.

Left one is the OLD O.B.'s tie, (given to me years ago by my late Mums cousin who was at C.H. just before WW2.

The one on the right was the official O.B.'s tie when I originally joined the O.B's in 1963, (I think ?)

Ian.

I would be intrigued to know, (given your position), if members of C.H. aadmin visit this site, and if so, any feed-back generated.

(Try to avoid Doctors Pond and the Gallows being erected behind the pavillion !)

Something like that.

It came backj to me this afternoon.

The village was Pen-Y-Groes. (Not sure of spelling)

Needless to say, we renamed it Pen-Y-Groes-Indecency !!

we were in Bala and Llangollen (cue lots of spitting to pronounce the ll's) I'm sure we were based in a hostel in or near Llangollen. (Between Caernarvon and Snowdon?) Nearly got into trouble with local plod when the local boyyos took exception to us chatting up their 'local-talent', (if you could ...

Did my D of E Gold in Snowdonia.

One weeks acclimatisation, and four days/3 nights under canvas !

Didn't do much to improve my love of the Celts !

Thanks Ian, for that candid and honest view. I cannot imagine you being dragged screaming to the Counting House, to face your accusers. (Is there still a ducking-stool at the Doctors Pond ??) This is the age of free speech. I echo the previous two posts re 'responsible' Merchant Bankers, (and no, I ...

I'm SO glad this debate is gathering pace. Again, I speak as an 'older' O.B., but NOT in the 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' bracket. I hated being sent away to school for an education, and probably 'bucked' the system more than most, and it wasn't until many years later I realised the full benefits ...

Glad my memory did ring some bells. When at the Col B Re-union last year, I was introduced to him. He seemed much smaller than I remembered him, though age had been kind. He HADN'T lost any of his rapier wit. I told him my name and years at Housey, to which he replied along the lines of, "Don't...

Thanks for that !

In my day, it was down at the assault course, or on bad days, the drying room under Coleridge House. The rancid musty smell of drying rugby gear obliterated the smell of ciggies !
