It sounds from the other thread that this was reported and statements taken

Re: Who Knew What?

Marty! That story of Dobbie at the reunion is quite astonishing. Especially given the poor boy he was with. There are some very unsavory connections we could draw between CH and South East Asia, but I'm reluctant to go down the conspiracy theory wormhole. I am regretful I couldn't make it to the 20 ...

Re: Who Knew What?

Another thing I forgot to mention was Dobbie talking in religious studies class about how people get so ugly when they get older, and how we were so lucky to be so attractive and how it would all fade as we got older. Looking back it makes much more sense why he would say that.

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS

It doesn't stick in the throat at all. Anyone in any organisation knows that you report stuff up to management and then it's up to them. They have the power to sack you after all. Are you a member of the Fleming family or something? You seem awfully defensive. Or are you just one of those paedo ena...

Re: Who Knew What?

I heard rumours about Dobbie but they were too unbelievable to me at the time, and all sorts of wild false rumours exist, so I ignored them. Besides, I wasn't really very well connected socially at CH to hear much gossip...

Good work, and good luck. I am very interested to hear what you find out, and if I can help let me know by private message.

I salute the bravery and determination of this woman even as my heart fills with sadness and rage that this could happen.

Re: Should the forum be behind a registration wall?

There should be an enquiry. This was endemic. During my time at CH: My history teacher was raping someone. My chaplain was abusing multiple people, and the link between him and Bishop Ball merits further investigation. My cricket coach was abusing multiple people. My French teacher was an out-and-o...

Re: Should the forum be behind a registration wall?

I think this is a very good idea because the constant deleting of threads for questionable legal reasons is very frustrating. Not blaming Julian at all - he is right to take whatever precautions are necessary to prevent trials being influenced, but I think the CH administration is using legal claims...

Re: Science teaching in the 50's

As I have mentioned before, I am disappointed at how little news or recognition of the sciences is in any of the CH publications. After 80+ years I would have expected a new science complex to have been built: I believe the 'New' Science building is from the 30s. I agree. There was probably a lot m...

Re: Science teaching in the 50's

I can also remember some pretty ' hairy ' experiments in Uncle Kirby's lab out of school hours, but under Uncles very watchful eye ! JR: AFAIR that watchful eye was as you woke up in hospital ! (I can LOL even if you don't) More seriously we were taught in advance how to handle problems in case the...

Re: Science teaching in the 50's

As a chemistry and physics teacher I am interested to find out that some CH teachers used original and potentially very effective methods in the 50s. There is an increasing amount of evidence that something along the lines of "heuristic teaching" is much more effective than just being lect...

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

Would it be possible to re-publish the thread after the trial is over? There were some interesting topics being discussed, even when they did stray from the main point of the discussion... Or could those comments be saved and moved to a new thread eventually? Several friends of mine had intended to ...

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

.) Although the spat between bakunin and sejintenej is OT, I would just say this: I was a contemporary (more or less) of sejintenej, and think he may exaggerate somewhat about home conditions (though I had running hot water and central heating at CH, for example, but not at home). However, life in t...
