Re: "The Blue 2012" - Oh Dear...

The shoes were a disgrace
Agreed. DS brought his home in a shocking state. He has shoe cleaning kit at school but when questioned says he only does it if there are special occasions. No-one ever mentions the state of his shoes.

Now clean and gleaming for return to school.

Re: I S I Report 2013

Congratulations to all involved in the excellent grading.

Did any current parents receive a parent questionnaire?

In the state inspection system, parents are surveyed on their opinion of the school. I certainly wasn't even aware an inspection was going on.

Re: 2013 Admissions Thread

It does seem strange that the older pupils were deemed to benefit from a CH education, but the younger ones aren't.
This is just one reason why the school should be providing parents and children a reason for their non-acceptance.

Re: 3 weekly grades

Can confirm the pizza (and sometimes hot chocolate!) in DS's house (same house as PinkHebe's son). We used to look mostly at the effort grades pre-GCSE but are now looking more at the grades. But without being given predicted grades, finding it difficult to understand what the grades actually mean -...

Re: 3 weekly grades

They were 4 weekly grades this time I think. Certainly DS didn't get them before LW but got them last Wednesday.

I'd ring the house parents if you want some clarification on what is going on. :)

Re: 3 weekly grades

I've just had a look on the parent portal. I'd suggest that they simply haven't been uploaded there yet.
Students have had them - speak to your house parent perhaps if you haven't had them from your child.

Re: laptops

I've said this before elsewhere, but the Ubuntu thing reminded me - Open Office is free, downloadable office-compatible suite that includes word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software. Or students could create a Google Drive account and use Google Docs. There's no need to buy any softwar...

Re: laptops

anyone can opt to take exams on a computer IF they are good enough at typing to make it worthwhile.
Are students offered this facility at CH? Who decides if their typing is fast enough?

Re: End of term report

Ah, I see. So not a short cut to the report this year.

We'll just have to wait until after Christmas - although as they broke up on the 8th I don't really understand why it takes so long to get the report and all the letters out.

Re: End of term report

Is it possible for parents of older students to access the reports online via the portal?

Not that I know how to access the portal but I'll cross that bridge if I need to.

We are away for a week now and still no report in the post.
